Will help to recruit our own undergraduate students

Please announce to your undergraduate students!

Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

MSME Core Classes

Question: Do we want to have a core sequence of classes?

Possible MSME Thermal Systems core classes:- ME 501 Engineering Analysis- ME 509 Intermediate Heat Transfer- ME 605 Classical Thermodynamics- AEM 500 Intermediate Fluid Mechanics

Possible Mechanical Systems core classes

Reevaluation of graduate course offerings(new people, new courses, removal of courses no longer taught)

Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

SACS Accreditation

Expected Learning Outcomes

Results of Assessment

Improvements Based on Assessment

Need to Develop Assessment Tools

- Yearly Faculty Survey (obtained during annual faculty retreat)- Exit Survey (obtained just after thesis/dissertation defense)- Exit Interview (obtained by Department Head)

Need to Establish Assessment Goals

Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

GTA Assignments

GTA positions as a recruiting tool?

GTA Committee Membership- Department Head, Chair of Committee- Graduate Program Coordinator- Faculty Member (one year rotating assignment)

GTA Assignment Committee- Identify GTA commitments (GCF awards, start-up, etc.)- XX% of uncommitted GTA positions to recruit students (using GCF model for awards process)- Award Guidelines

GTA Assignment Guidelines- No faculty member should have more than 1 student supported using GTA funds (unless as part of a GCF commitment)- GTA awards are for a single year (unless otherwise specified by Department Head)
