Context of theposition

Bekaert Engineering designs, builds and supports the specific equipment of the Bekaert Group. The designers of machineryand equipment are working in the design department of Bekaert Engineering. The design department is divided into threeunits: the , ! and "#unit.

• The #unit is responsible for innovation.• The designers from the !#unit prepare the specifications for ordering the machines from the broad portfolio of Bekaert.

They are also responsible for the modulari$ation of it, as for the on#line developments.

• The "#!nit provides support to the e%isting plants for ad&ustments, modifications and upgrades on equipments previously

supplied. This may be for moderni$ation, but also to obtain new functionalities.The implementation of the completed plans is usually done by the '() *'roduction ( )ogistics+ department of BekaertEngineering.

• Gives support to the responsible design engineer when developing new machinery or equipment during the *preliminary+

study and the reali$ation phase.• evelops new equipment or installations that meet the preliminary studies and the constraints of the construction.• oes some developments to e%isting machines to add new functionalities.

-ew esigns   • 'uts forward proposals on new developments within its field of application and discusses this with the group.

'reliminary studies   • ets the part design specifications for the chosen design after collecting data from production, suppliers and competitors,

literature, e%isting equipments, etc.• /orks or assists on the first evaluations.• 0ontributes to the development of ob&ective evaluation criteria, perform any tests and measurements, to allow after

discussion to make the optimal choices for the further development of the design• ets the technical parts of quotes. 0onsult thereon with the responsible engineer or pro&ect manager.

• Takes part in the selection of key materials and purchased components, and gives advice to the draftsmen for the Bill of1aterial

• 'rovides information to the draftsmen and follow their work.• 'erforms measurements and tests on machines, plant and prototypes and saves these data.• 4inali$es the installation of machines and prototypes, also at the customer5s factory.
