Means of transport
People all over the world use different means of transport everyday: buses, cars, trams, the underground
and more unusual ones such as a rickshaw for
example.
First bus
The idea for the first bus probably comes from France (1826). Two-level buses are popular in
some European and Asian countries.
Double-deckers
Double-deckers are a popular tourist attraction in some cities. These are not only two-level buses but trams as well.
The Underground
The underground is a very quick way to travel in big cities. In Japan so many people use the underground that there is a special person to push them
inside.
Taxi! Taxi!
First taxis date back to the 17th century. New York is famous for its yellow cabs and London for black traditional taxis.
Trams
First trams appeared in the 19th century. They were pulled by horses. Trams are very convenient means of
transport as they almost never get stuck in traffic jams.
Unusual
It is not typical for European people to see such means of transport. They are still popular in Kolkata, Hong Kong, China and other places.
