You could:• encourage your child/ward to talk about his/her experiences, express his/her
thoughts and feelings and explain how he/she solves problems and overcomeschallenges
• encourage your child/ward to present their art portfolio to you and give them twostars (for things you like) and a wish (on an area you hope your child/ward canexplore).
• take time to engage your child/ward in play/art making together• understand that your child/ward is naturally curious and encourage your child/ward
to explore and ask questions• refrain from judging when your child/ward shows you his/her art.• Where possible, bring your child/ward to visit local art exhibitions/art shows or go on

• With the removal of examination for Primary One, teachers willmonitor and understand students’ learning progress through dailyteaching and learning in the classrooms.
• Our teachers care for their students’ well‐being and progress inlearning. As such, they will provide parents timely and specificfeedback about the learning progress.
• Non‐weighted assessments will be used to support students’ learning, gauge their learning progress, and address learning gaps.
• Class work, discussions and interactions, bite‐sized assessments aresome of the ways to serve as checkpoints to allow teachers togather information about students’ learning. These checkpoints willno longer count towards an overall result.
• We will use qualitative descriptors instead of marks and grades toreport students’ learning progress in the report book (HolisticDevelopment Profile).

❒Attain a good mastery of the basic number concepts and skills- recognise, read and write number symbols (numerals) 0 to 20
❒Achieve the ability to count, understanding that:- we count to tell how many there are- the counting words are said in a fixed order
Activities such as matching, sorting, pairing, ordering andpatterning would help your child develop his number sense andbasic number concepts.
Basic pre‐numeracy skills such as matching, sorting and comparing are necessary in providing a good grounding for pupils to begin learning at Primary 1.
