• I used Edmodo.com as a communication tool for myself and my students. Students were able to support their peers as well as turn in alternative assessments. Students have the opportunity to design and implement their own project ideas.

• I created a tutorial for all of the teachers to help them with the creation of their new report cards.

1c. Teachers lead the teaching profession.

• I created and ran a national PLC group each month during K12’s national PLC time.

• I stood in for the K12 PLC facilitator in April while she was unable to attend.

• I presented at the school improvement conference on Prezi and Edmodo.

Math Tools for Struggling Students

Our PLC focused on creating and sharing virtual manipulatives and other synchronous strategies for

teaching math concepts.

1d. Teachers advocate for schools and students.

• Together with the other 4-5-6 teachers we planned program ideas we would like to see implemented next year for class connect sessions.

• We also planned a support class for students who were struggling with mathematics.

• I discuss with students using images appropriately and citing sources when using an image from the internet as seen in this students museum scene project.

• With a student who is SPED, we work on several concepts at each session. We practice counting 5’s and 10’s by using coins. We practice phonics sounds and learn a new sign.

with the students who need it and their LCs.

3a. Teachers align their instruction with the state standards.

• I noticed some of my students were struggling with not mastered math lessons. So I taught them and their Learning coaches to solve the test problem together and answer a similar problem on their own until they are comfortable.

• I shared this process in my

grade level PLC.

• Student created a prezi on the kingdoms of life in Science. After starting I helped him look up the pictures of sample life forms which made him curious to start looking up more information about each kingdom.

3c. Teachers recognize the interconnectedness of content areas/disciplines.

• Lynette (2nd grade) and I collaborated on the vocabulary and way in which equivalent fractions were taught so that the students would hear the same terms and be taught similar ways in class connects.

• At the start of lesson Angelique asked students to list ways that fractions are used in every day jobs.

4a. Teachers know the ways in which learning takes place, and they know the appropriate levels of intellectual, physical,

social, and emotional development of their students.

• Peer evaluations provided an excellent opportunity to provide feedback on how to adjust a lesson to student needs.

• I was able to coordinate a school-wide museum box account so that every student could use this high level thinking tech tool.

• I learned about and taught my students and fellow teachers how to use prezi.com and museum boxes.

• Student created a Lego model of a cell and created a video describing each part of the cell and it’s function using windows movie maker.

• I created an Edmodo.com classroom where my students could work together in grade level groups and use many different websites to further their own understanding.

• Based on test data from the mid year assessments, We designed and started a remedial math class.

5b. Teachers link professional growth to their professional goals.

• I created My Prompts for student work samples based on the training and will go together with the other teachers to finalize these prompts and turn them in as pilot prompts.

• I started offering alternative assessments options after the differentiation professional development.
