Aleks Mastery Aleks is a program based on mastery. Once you’ve mastered a topic, Aleks will know
which topics you’re ready to learn next. You will not be allowed to practice topics that
you’re not ready to learn. You must prove you’ve maintained mastery of
the topics through periodic progress assessments.
Initial Assessment Before you can begin making progress in your
Aleks course, you will be required to take an Initial Assessment.
By answering questions on the Initial Assessment correctly, you prove that you’ve mastered topics.
Completing Topics in ALEKS Correctly answer questions on the Initial
Assessment or Progress Assessments. Correctly answer several practice problems in a
row. If you don’t know how to answer a question, you
can choose to have the answer explained to you. If you incorrectly answer a question about a
topic you’ve previously mastered, the program will require you to master it again.
Progress Assessments You will periodically be asked to complete a
progress assessment. Aleks will automatically initiate a progress
assessment after you’ve mastered approximately 20 topics.
Progress Assessments will primarily consist of questions relating to recently mastered topics. But, will also include topics learned earlier in the course, and topics that you are almost ready to learn.
