MASTERDRIVES Vector Controldrives can be simply connected toa PROFIBUS-DP bus, the most suc-cessful fieldbus standard world-wide with data transfer rates of12 Mbit/s: thanks to slave-to-slave communication, communi-cation between slaves functionsperfectly using the CBP2 board.This enables setpoints to be routedfrom drive to drive without load-ing the automation system. It isalso extremely easy to integratethem into the SIMATIC automa-tion environment using Drive ES(more information on this is pro-vided on the next page).

Serial interfaces with USSprotocol

MASTERDRIVES have as standarda serial interface (USS interface).You can use this as RS232 forpoint-to-point couplings or asRS485 for bus operation. This canbe used to connect DriveMonitor– the commissioning and diag-nostics tool – to commissionyour drives.

DriveMonitor: astonishinglysimple commissioningusing PC or SIMATIC

DriveMonitor is a PC-based toolrunning under Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 and which sup-ports drive commissioningand drive-related diagnostics.DriveMonitor is used for menu-prompted operator control and vis-ualization; reading, writing, man-aging and printing parametersets, both online and offline.

The intelligent operator panelfor fast local commissioning anddiagnostics

The OP1S operator panel has aplain text, alphanumeric displayin German, English, French, Italianand Spanish.This means that commissioning,operator control and diagnosticsare always fast and straightfor-ward using the keypad and easy-to-understand menu prompting.The OP1S can save up to six param-eter sets and, using upload anddownload operations, these canthen be copied to other drives.

Andif you have to replace the drive,then you no longer have toprogram it: you can simply down-load the settings from theSIMATIC-CPU!

Drive ES Graphic: freelyconfigure your drive functions

The Drive ES Graphic operator in-terface is optional and is based onDrive ES Basic. Drive ES Graphicallows the functions of Siemensdrives to be tracked in a user-friendly fashion – online, offlineor in test mode. For example, ifyou manually changed parameters

in the drive, then you can readback these changes and simplycorrect the generated charts.

Using Drive ES Graphic, you can• save all of the charts in SIMATICformat• configure the drive functions inBICO technology using CFC• fully utilize the online and offlinefunctionality.

Drive ES SIMATIC:parameterize communication

Drive ES SIMATIC provides functionblocks and typical projects for theSIMATIC CPU. These can commu-nicate with Siemens drives viaPROFIBUS or USS.The decisive advantage:you no longer have to programthe complete communication –parameterization is sufficient.

Drive ES PCS 7: for user-friendlyintegration into the PCS 7 system

The automation system is signif-icantly relieved if the drive han-dles technological and controlfunctions. It simplifies the con-figuring, service and reducesthe system and engineering costs.

MASTERDRIVES Vector Controlfor the highest dynamicresponse and distributedintelligence

The control software is the coreof Vector Control. This ensures thebest dynamic response, excellentcontrol characteristics and highflexibility. It handles all of themotor-related control tasks withor without encoder and has anexceptionally large number offree function blocks, which canbe used to flexibly implementdrive-related control systems.

Comprehensive BICO library foropen-loop and closed-loopcontrol and logic functions

The control structure ofMASTERDRIVES Vector Control ispre assigned in the factoryand can be selected using param-eters. Furthermore, the signalscan be injected and picked offat specified points. This meansthat you can interrupt connec-tions established in the softwareand establish new connections.BICO technology makes this allpossible. This is used to freely con-nect closed-loop and open-loopcontrol blocks – just the same asfor programmable logic con-trollers. This means no longerhaving to program the system – itjust has to be parameterized. Notonly this, MASTERDRIVES VectorControl has the same functionalityas a basic SIMATIC PLC.

The blocks are simply intercon-nected using binectors and con-nectors. Binectors connectbinary signals, connectors,connect 16-bit or 32-bit data.

In this case, the advantage is thatyou always use the optimumfunctional scope. Simply select astructure from the permanentlyinstalled standards and commis-sioning has been completed andthe drive is ready to be poweredup.

The frequently required standardfunctions in the package can beimmediately used:

• User-friendly ramp-function generator• Wobble generator• Technology controller• Arithmetic blocks and many more.

This means that you can imple-ment practically any function –from simple, technologicalfunctions up to complex applica-tions, for example a winder (referto the diagram).
