MASTERBOND PLASTAID 2 Bonding agent for old and new concrete.

DESCRIPTION

MASTERBOND PLASTAID 2 is a single component unique bonding agent in liquid form. It is ideally suited for bonds between old and new concrete/mortar. It is used as a plastering aid without hacking the old concrete/mortar surface.

FEATURE / ADVANTAGES

Can be easily applied by brush / spray. Reduces hacking and keying of concrete/mortar. Improves the bonding strength between old and new cementitious surface. Improves bond between steel and concrete. Contains no chloride and hence no corroding effect on reinforcement steel. Less rebound loss while plastering. It is water based polymer and hence no solvent odour. It is economical than two pack systems as it is single pack and gives more coverage.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Used as a bonding agent between old and new concrete. Used on steel reinforcement as a primer/ bonding agent. Used for bonding new repair mortars to the parent concrete. Used as a plastering aid for RCC members like beams, columns, ceilings etc. Used as a bonding aid before gunniting and thereby rebound loss is minimized.

TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Nature : single component, low viscous liquid. Colour : reddish/ pinkish, milky white liquid. Specific gravity at 300C : 1.00 ± 0.02

DIRECTION FOR USE

1. SURFACE PREPARATION The surface must be cleaned thoroughly before the application of Masterbond plastaid 2. The loose particles, laitance, paint, dirt etc. has to be removed with wired brush or by other suitable means. Masterklean AEA can be used as an acid etching agent if required. Masterklean DGA should be used for cleaning oil and grease. Moisten the surface with water after surface preparation

2. SPRAYING OF MASTERBOND PLASTAID Apply Masterbond plastaid 2 by spray in a single coat. Ensure that the entire portion of the surface is covered. For small repair jobs a hand spray can be used. Brush application is generally not recommended as brushes become sticky and are not reusable. In some case of application on reinforcement, use a small brush or wet cotton cloth.

3. APPLICATION OF SLURRY COAT After about 10 minutes of application of Masterbond plastaid 2 (when it is tacky), apply a slurry coat of cement mortar.

4. PLACING OF CONCRETE / MORTAR When the slurry coat is free from visible surface water (generally 20 to 60 minutes after the application of slurry coat) place concrete or mortar. Even in the extreme cases also the placing of concrete or mortar over slurry coat should not exceed 90 minutes after application of slurry coat.

CLEANING

Clean the tools like sprayers, brushes etc., with water immediately after the application of MASTERBOND PLASTAID 2.

COVERAGE

Approximately about 10 square meters per liter by spray application and 9 square meters per liter by brush application.

PACKAGING & SHELF LIFE

Supplied in 5, 20 and 200 liters. Shelf life of one year in unopened condition. Store in a cool and dry place.

HEALTH & SAFETY

It is advisable to wear goggles while spraying. Inhalation of the spray should be avoided. When it contacts with skin, it should be washed thoroughly with plenty of water. Any splashes to eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of water and medical advice should be taken.
