Parish Mission Statement We the people of Our Lady of the Snows Parish are a Catholic Christian community who reach out to one another and to all people by teaching and giving witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to invite all to hear, share, and live the Word of God. We try to inspire an awareness of our faith and to encourage others to renew and energize that faith in Jesus and His Church. We want to welcome the entire community to enjoy the warmth and love of our parish by participating fully in the sacramental life of the Church.

Dear Parishioners, On this Fourth Sunday of Easter we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday and we are encouraged to pray for each other’s vocation from God and particularly to pray for more church vocations.
Because of the coronavirus many dioceses have postponed the ordination of priests including our own Diocese of Brooklyn. The original date was Saturday, June 6th at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Brooklyn. The ordination is rescheduled for Saturday, June 27th. Please pray for the four men who are this year’s candidates for the priesthood: Deacon Gabriel Agudelo Deacon Peter Okajima Deacon Nestor Martinez Deacon Dragan Pusic Please take some time and read the special bulletin insert prepared by Father Jeremy and the Parish Vocations Committee which speaks of the thorns and deserts of humanity which is a fine and timely reflection by Pope Benedict XVI. Today on the 57th World Day of Prayer for Vocations let us also consider the words of Pope Francis during these turbulent times: “Whenever fatigue or fear make us start to sink, Jesus holds out His hand to us. He gives us the enthusiasm we need to live our vocation with joy and fervor.” May our vocation be always a true blessing in all of our lives.

MOTHER’S DAY REMEMBRANCE
MOTHER’S DAY REMEMBRANCE. Blue
Mother’s Day Remembrance envelopes are included
in the recent mailing of church envelopes. This is a
beautiful way of remembering our mothers, living or
deceased, with a special Mass Intention next Sunday
Mother’s Day, May 10th. Please return your offering
in the mail or at the Parish Office. These intentions
will be remembered until the end of the month.
NURSES DAY
NURSES DAY is observed this
Wednesday, May 6th . Be sure to thank
a nurse with a text message, email and/
or greeting card.
“When you’re a nurse you know that everyday you will be touch a life or a life will touch yours.” -Author Unknown.
ELECTRONIC GIVING
ELECTRONIC GIVING. Thank you to everyone
who already signed up with GIVECENTRAL using
the simple instruction in last week’s bulletin. The
first response to this new form of offertory giving has
been very positive! In light of current events, and the
absence of daily Mass, and diminishing offering to the
paris, this way of making regular church
contributions will be so important in the days and
months ahead. Today’s bulletin includes an
enrollment column and thank you as well to
everybody for placing your envelops in the mail slot
at the Parish Office, or by mail or by your own online
banking. Your support is greatly needed and
appreciated.
CLAP BECAUSE WE CARE has
become the “hymn of thanksgiving”
throughout New York City at 7:00PM
every night to recognize the heroic work
of doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners,
physician assistants, staff members and countless others
who are caring for those who are seriously ill during the
pandemic. Some parishioners are leading a “Clap Drive
By” at Long Island Jewish Center this Wednesday,
May 6th, which is Nurses Day! All are welcomed to
meet in front of the church on 259th Street at 6:45PM in
their cars and proceed together in a motorcade to LIJ to
bring support and love to today’s heroes!
May you have a blessed Good Shepherd Sunday, from the Our Lady of the Snows Vocations Committee!
“The Shepherd who sets off to seek the lost sheep is the eternal Word himself, and the sheep that he lovingly carries home on his shoulders is humanity, the human existence that he took upon himself. In his Incarnation and Cross he brings home the stray sheep, humanity; he brings me home, too. The incarnate Logos is the true ‘sheep-bearer’—the Shepherd who follows after us through the thorns and deserts of our life. Carried on his shoulders, we come home. He gave his life for us. He himself is life.”
At this time of pandemic, humanity as a whole seems surrounded by “thorns and deserts.” While we try our best, we often find that we need to be carried on the shoulders of the Shepherd.
Are you called to represent the Good Shepherd to a troubled world? Or maybe someone you know? Tell a staff member of the parish, or call the Diocesan Vocations Office at 718-827-7454 (e-mail: [email protected]).
(Quotation from the First Volume of “Jesus of Nazareth” by Pope Benedict XVI)
ROBOCALLS
ROBOCALLS. A new robocall
from Father McBrien was made this
past week to over 1400 households
in the parish. It is one of many
ways of staying in touch with
everyone at Our Lady of the Snows to offer prayerful
support and assistance during this difficult time. If
you did not receive the call please leave a phone
message at the Parish Office and we will check the
parish database.
Our Church is now accepting on line donations
