Kreative Kangaroos (Unit K - 4 year olds): To promote a nurturing environment, the activity groups are kept small—typically six children. In Kreative Kangaroos, young children are introduced to the wonders of summer camp. The camp day is a creative mix of indoor and outdoor activities and a balance of free choice and structured time. Junior Camp (Unit A-K; Unit B-1st grade; Unit C-2nd grade)): Activities are chosen on a daily basis - some days campers choose the activities and on other days, counselors choose to ensure campers expand their interests. The activities are developmentally appropriate and, at times, may be generated from the campers’ suggestions, interests, and experiences. In our relaxed environment, junior campers delight in having the freedom to pursue a special interest, as well as the opportunity to develop a new one. The highlight of the summer for each unit is their Special Day when the activities revolve around a particular theme and Units B & C even stay late on campus. Senior Camp (Units D-H-3rd -7th grades) : A unique summer adventure. Senior campers benefit from a tremendous range of activity choices. They appreciate the opportunity to design their own schedules based on their particular interests. After visiting the subject choices and learning about what is planned, campers then choose up to four activities, depending on the unit, to specialize in for each three-week session. There are novice- to advance-level classes available and some activities may require a double period. At least ten different activities are offered for each of the two Afternoon Workshop periods. These activities change daily and are chosen by the camper at the end of the previous day. Ultimate Frisbee, cooking and baking projects, basketball, world games, creek walks, and friendship bracelets are some of the fun afternoon workshop classes. Sportsis a workshop choice every day and swimming is available twice a week. A marvelous selection of day trips and overnights will further stimulate senior campers for an enriching summer experience. Campers in Units G and H take a weekly field trip. Miniature golf, tubing, and bowling are some of the day trip adventures campers enjoyed last summer. The overnight is optional. Any camper not going on an overnight will participate in their regularly scheduled activities at Camp.

Camp Ramayana (The Epic in Dance and Drama): a month-long summer camp for children aged 5 to 12. The Ramayana is a 2000-year old epic, deeply rooted in the culture and identity of South and Southeast Asians. Like all great epic tales, it is a vast, complex story that captures the imagination of adults and children alike. The Sutradhar Institute’s approach is somewhat unique in that campers are introduced to the Ramayana through story-telling, martial arts, yoga, mask-making, Sanskrit (the language of the epic), poetry, rangoli (floor painting) and creative writing--thus appealing to all children’s love of stories and story-telling. The camp has been operating for nearly 20 years, with many children returning year after year, first attending as junior campers and then later as camp counselors. Camp Kuchipudi: For those interested in immersing themselves in dance, Camp Kuchipudi deeply explores the south Indian classical dance style of Kuchipudi. Beginners are welcome. Although it is structured much like Camp Ramayana, much more emphasis is placed on dance technique and choreography. Activities include yoga, martial arts, dance technique make up design, Kuchipudi repertoire, and dance ethnography.
