PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Last Thursday Zachary Charlton and James Pearson travelled to Gundagai for the Riverina Cross Country. I must congratulate these boys for their efforts on the day and their training prior to participation. Both boys placed in the 20’s from a field of up to 70. Well done!
The term is finishing in two weeks. Before the end we will have school photos, Parent/Teacher meetings and the District Athlet-ics carnival.
Students have already been given forms for the photos and the permission note for the athletics. All children have been in-formed of the events they are entered in and these entries were based off the results from our recent small schools carnival.
Attached to this newsletter are notes for the Parent/Teacher in-terviews.
I would like the children to wear their red and white sports shirt, with their sport navy track pants for the school photos. I think the weather will be in our favour with 17 and sunny predicted.
As displayed on the notice board recently, Miss Salzke had a healthy bouncing baby boy last week. We wish April and Jack all the best with their new arrival.
Just a reminder that if your child is away parents/carers are re-quired to provide a note or a phone call to the school, on the day that they return. A detailed information note regarding absences is attached plus some information on what being away from school equates to. Please look at the “Every Day Counts” sheet.

In reading this week we have continued to learn
different reading strategies that can help us with
our reading. In particular we have focussed on
making inferences when reading and listening to
texts and we have learnt how we can identify the
author’s purpose of a text. Alison and Thomas
have also been learning their Oxford words and
they were very excited to model their words with
play dough and create sentences using stamps.
As part of our history unit we have been learning
all about Aboriginal people and their way of life prior to European settlement. It has been
a busy few weeks working on our research projects and we are looking forward to finish-
ing and presenting them in week 10. We have also looked at some traditional Aboriginal
art and we have created our own dot paintings. We are really enjoying building our diora-
mas and using the computers to research our project question.
Miss Piltz.

JOURNALISTS CORNER
On the 13th June, James and I went to Gundagai to represent the Coolamon-Ardlethan PSSA
zone at the Riverina carnival. When we got to the racecourse there were hundreds of people.
The zones that went were:
Albury zone
Cootamundra zone
Deniliquin zone
Finley zone
Griffith zone
Highlands zone
Leeton/Narrandera zone
Moulamein zone
Southern Riverina zone
Wagga Wagga zone
Young zone.
Then it was time to race. James and I got ready to race because James’ race was 4 and mine
was 6. The track has very long grass and it was very windy. When I raced it was raining.
James came 28th and I came 33rd.

In the 4-6 classroom, we have been finishing our Jenolan Caves project.
We are doing assembly’s on Tuesday at 10.40am.
On the 13th June Zach and James went to the Riverina Cross Country.
The 27th June is school photo day and on the 3rd July is the district athletics carnival.
With Miss Piltz we have been doing an Aboriginal project. We have been given a subject
and now we have to find information about that subject. We have been doing writing rota-
tions and we have started a story about the vegies in the garden.
Mrs O’Neill has been doing science with us lately, we had to stab a straw into a potato and
make cardboard defy gravity. We also have finished our hopscotch bricks. We have been
doing projects on Roald Dahl books.
The last day of term is 5th July.
