ACT IDr. and Mrs. Stahlbaum’s annual Christmas Eve Party. Their children—Fritz, Marie, andLouise—wait in the den. Party dances: polka,hokey-pokey, hesitation, stroll, bump, waltz.Friend of the family Drosselmeier brings ani-mated toys that he has made. He gives a nut- cracker to the children. Fritz breaks it. Thechildren fight. Dr. Stahlbaum changes the sub-ject. The guests go home. The family goes tobed. The housekeeper cleans up.

Marie can’t sleep and comes downstairs to see if the Nutcracker is resting comfortably. At mid-night she is frightened by rats. Everything in the room grows to giant size. G.I. Joes led by theNut cracker battle rats led by the mutant RatKing. Marie kills the Rat King with her slipper.She falls unconscious. The Nutcracker is trans-formed into a young man. Marie is tucked in.A worried Drosselmeier makes his way throughthe blizzard.

ACT IIMarie is in a fever. Drosselmeier comes to see if Marie is resting comfortably and tells her oneof his stories:

THE HARD NUTOnce upon a time, a King and a Queenhad a beautiful baby girl named Pir -li pat. The Queen’s old enemy, the RatQueen, threatened to ruin little Pirli -pat. The nurse and the cat were left to guard the baby at night. While thenurse and cat slept, the Rat Queen

destroyed Princess Pirlipat’s face. TheRoyal Family was horrified by the sightof their formerly beautiful daughter.The Rat Queen explained that thePrincess would regain her beauty onlyafter a young man cracked the hard nut,Krakatuk, with his teeth and steppedbackwards seven times. The King com-manded Drosselmeier to find the hardnut or face decapitation. Dros sel meierset off in search of the hard nut. Hetraveled the world for 15 years beforefinding it back at home.

The ugly teenage Pirlipat watched asone young man after another at-tempted to crack the hard nut. The lastone to try was Drosselmeier’s ownneph ew. He succeeded. On his seventhstep backward he stepped on the RatQueen, killing her. Pirlipat becamebeau tiful and rejected the young Dros -sel meier as he started to become ugly—like a nutcracker…

At this point Marie interrupts the story and offers her love to the young Drosselmeier. Mrs.Stahl baum acknowledges her daughter’s newmaturity with a flower dance. Everyone in theworld joins Marie and the young Drosselmeierin celebrating their love. The two go away to-gether forever.

EPILOGUELouise and Fritz are sent to bed.

Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) beganhis career as a civil servant. In 1862 he gave uphis job and enrolled at the Saint PetersburgCon servatory. He was offered the Professorshipof Harmony at the newly opened Moscow Con -ser vatory in 1866. After the success of his firstpiano concerto, he began a correspondencewith Nadezhda von Meck, a wealthy widow,whose financial support enabled him to devotehimself to composition. They remained corre-spondents until a misunderstanding in 1890ended their relationship, but they never actu-ally met. Tchaikovsky made a disastrous mar-riage in 1877, possibly to conceal his ho mo -sexuality; a separation followed an attemptedsuicide after only 11 weeks of marriage. Despitehis subsequent depressions, he managed to pro-duce his most successful opera, Eugene Onegin(1877–78), his Fourth Sym phony (1878), andhis Violin Concerto (1878) during this period.In 1881 he gave up teaching at the conservatoryand for the next seven years was deeply in-volved in composition. His death from cholerain Saint Petersburg, after imprudently drinkingunboiled water, occurred soon after the firstperformance of his Symphony No. 6 (Pathé -tique) in 1893.

Mark Morris was bornon August 29, 1956, in Seattle, Washington,where he studied withVerla Flowers and PerryBrunson. In the earlyyears of his career, heperformed with thecom panies of Lar Lubo -

vitch, Hannah Kahn, Laura Dean, Eliot Feld,and the Koleda Balkan Dance Ensemble. He formed the Mark Morris Dance Group(MMDG) in 1980, and has since created morethan150 works for the company. From 1988 to1991 he was Director of Dance at Brussels’Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the nationalopera house of Belgium. In 1990 he foundedthe White Oak Dance Project with MikhailBaryshnikov. Much in demand as a ballet cho-reographer, Morris has created 22 ballets since1986 and his work has been performed by com-

panies worldwide, including San Francisco Bal -let, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet du GrandThéâtre de Genève, and the Royal New ZealandBallet. Noted for his musicality, Morris has beendescribed as “undeviating in his devotion tomusic” (The New Yorker). He began conduct-ing performances for MMDG in 2006 and hassince conducted at Tanglewood Music Center,Lincoln Center, and BAM (Brooklyn Academyof Music). He served as the music director forthe 2013 Ojai Music Festival. He also works ex-tensively in opera, directing and choreograph-ing productions for the Metropolitan Opera,New York City Opera, English National Opera,and the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, amongothers. Morris was named a Fellow of the Mac -Arthur Foundation in 1991 and has received 11 honorary doctorates to date. He has taught atthe University of Washington, Prince ton Uni -versity, and Tanglewood Music Center. Morrisis a member of the American Academy of Artsand Sciences and the American Philo sophicalSociety, and has served as an advisory boardmember for the Rolex Mentor and Pro tégé Arts Initiative. He has received the Samuel H.Scripps/American Dance Festival Award forLifetime Achievement, the Leonard BernsteinLifetime Achievement Award for the Elevationof Music in Society, the Benjamin FranklinLaureate Prize for Creativity, the InternationalSociety for the Performing Arts’ DistinguishedArtist Award, the Cal Performances Award ofDistinction in the Performing Arts, the Or -chestra of St. Luke’s Gift of Music Award, andthe 2016 Doris Duke Artist Award. In 2015Mark Morris was inducted into the Mr. and Mrs.Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame atthe National Museum of Dance in SaratogaSprings, New York. Morris opened the MarkMorris Dance Center in Brooklyn, New York,in 2001 to provide a home for his company, re-hearsal space for the dance community, out-reach programs for children and seniors, and aschool offering dance classes to students of allages and abilities.

The Mark Morris Dance Group was formed in1980 and gave its first performance that year inNew York City. The company’s touring schedule

steadily expanded to include cities in the UnitedStates and around the world, and in 1986 itmade its first national television program for thePBS series Dance in America. MMDG was in-vited to become the national dance company of Belgium in 1988, and spent three years in residence at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. The Dance Group returned to theUnited States in 1991 as one of the world’s lead-ing dance companies. Based in Brooklyn, NewYork, MMDG maintains strong ties to presen-ters in several cities around the world, most no-tably to its West Coast home, Cal Performances,and its Midwest home, the Krannert Center forthe Performing Arts at the University of Illinoisat Urbana-Champaign. MMDG also appearsregularly in New York, Boston, Seattle, andFair fax. In New York, the company has per-formed at New York City Center’s Fall for DanceFestival, regularly performs at Lincoln Centerfor the Performing Arts’ Mostly Mozart andWhite Light Festivals, and collaborates yearlywith BAM on performances and master classes.From the company’s many London seasons, ithas received two Laurence Olivier Awards anda Critics’ Circle Dance Award for Best ForeignDance Company. Reflecting Morris’ commit-ment to live music, the Dance Group has fea-tured live musicians in every performance sincethe formation of the MMDG Music Ensemblein 1996. MMDG regularly collaborates with re -nowned musicians, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma,pianist Emanuel Ax, mezzo-soprano Ste ph anieBlythe, and jazz trio The Bad Plus, as well as leading orchestras and opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, EnglishNational Opera, and the London SymphonyOrchestra. MMDG frequently works with distinguished artists and designers, includingpainters Robert Bordo and the late HowardHodgkin, set designers Adrianne Lobel andAllen Moyer, costume designers Martin Pakle -dinaz and Isaac Mizrahi, and many others. premiere on PBS’ Great Performances. While ontour the Dance Group partners with local cul-tural institutions and community organizationsto present Access/MMDG, a program of artsand humanities-based activities for people of allages and abilities.

Cal Performances and MMDG’s relationshipover the last 30 years has played a major part infulfilling Cal Performances’ commitment to bringimportant dance works on a grand scale toZeller bach Hall. MMDG first performed twomixed repertory programs at Zellerbach Hall in 1987. Since then, Cal Performances has pre-sented The Hard Nut on several occasions, as well as 57 additional works by Mark Morris.Last season’s Layla and Majnun marked the13th MMDG world premiere at Cal Perfor -mances, its 10th as commissioner.

Colin Fowler (conduc-tor, music director) be -gan his musical edu ca- tion at the age of five in Kansas City and wenton to study at the presti-gious Interlochen ArtsAca de my. He continuedhis studies at the Juilli -

ard School, where he received his bachelor ofmusic degree in 2003 and his master of musicdegree in 2005. While at Juilliard, he studiedpiano with Abbey Simon, organ with GerreHancock and Paul Jacobs, harpsichord withLionel Party, and conducting with James de -Priest and Judith Clurman. A versatile musicianand conductor, Fowler works in many arenas of the music scene in New York City. He is a veteran of numerous Broadway shows, most re-cently performing in the Tony Award-winningmusical Jersey Boys. A seasoned church musi-cian, Fow ler has led choirs and services at Cal -vary Baptist Church and Trinity Wall Street, andhe is currently the organist at Marble CollegiateChurch on Fifth Avenue. He also leads servicesand concerts at Park Avenue Synagogue, wherehe has served as the music director since 2012.As a soloist and collaborative artist, he has per-formed and recorded with renowned musiciansand ensembles including Deborah Voigt, The

Knights, the American Brass Quin tet, JamesGalway, and the Los Angeles Phil har monic. Hebegan to collaborate with the Mark MorrisDance Group in 2005 during the creation ofMozart Dances. Since then, he has per formedmore than 40 pieces with the company on al-most every keyboard instrument possible, in-cluding the harmonium and toy piano, and hasconducted performances of Mozart Dances andAcis and Galatea. Under the artistic direction ofMark Morris, Fowler was featured at the 2013Ojai Music Festival, per forming in six concertsand on the closing day of the festival in Lou Har -ri son’s Con certo for Organ and Percussion, andCon cer to for Piano and Java nese Gamelan, per-for mances the Wall Street Journal. Hailed by theNew York Times as “invaluable” and “central toMorris’ music,” Fowler was appointed music di-rector in 2013.

Berkeley Symphony is unique among Amer i -can orchestras: founded in 1971 in the intellec-tual and artistic nexus of Berkeley; led by therestlessly innovative music director Joana Car -neiro and executive director René Mandel, an active performing violinist; committed topremiering and commissioning new music andchampioning the work of female composers;and sustained by the supportive musical envi-ronment of Berkeley, the East Bay, and the SanFrancisco Bay Area. From the outset, the peo-ple behind Berkeley Symphony’s programmingwere attuned to the culturally diverse people andthe creative climate of their home city. Tho masRarick, a protege of the great English maestroSir Adrian Boult, founded the orchestra in 1971 as the Berkeley Promenade Orchestra. Re flecting the spirit of the times, musicians performed in street dress and at unusual loca-tions such as the University Art Museum. WhenKent Nagano became the music director of theorchestra in 1978, he charted a new course byoffering innovative programming that includedrarely performed 20th-century works and nu-mer ous premieres. The renamed Berke ley Sym -phony gained an international rep u ta tion for itsadventurous programming, and became knownfor premiering the music of international com-posers and showcasing young local talent.

The acclaimed Piedmont East Bay Children’sChoir (PEBCC) has been offering boys and girlsan outstanding program of choral training andperformance since 1982. Led by founding artis-tic director Robert Geary, the choir’s flagshipgroup, Ensemble, has received honors at presti-gious competitions in the US, Canada, Poland,Russia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Lithuania, HongKong, and Wales. In July 2017 Ensemble wonsecond prize in each of the categories it enteredat the prestigious Eisteddfod Com petition inWales. In 2013 Ensemble earned gold medalsand the Grand Prix at the International YouthMusic Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia, and it is theonly children's choir from the US to win a firstprize at the Choir Olym pics, or World ChoirGames. Ensemble has commissioned and pre-miered new works by Kui Dong, Mark Winges,Pekka Kostiainen, Kirke Mechem, Pablo Ortiz,Zae Munn, Stacy Garrop, Eric Tuan, Sue Bohlin,and many others. The group frequently collab-orates with the Mark Morris Dance Group, aswell as ma jor Bay Area arts organizations suchas Cal Performances, the Oakland Sym phony,Berkeley West Edge Opera, Volti, the San Fran - cis co Chamber Orches tra, and the San FranciscoChoral Society. Ensemble has also performedwith the San Fran cisco Opera and the SanFrancisco Sym pho ny. PEBCC’s comprehensivemusic curriculum provides approximately 350boys and girls, ages 4–18, from more than 120schools in five counties, with an exceptional ed-ucation in vocal technique and music theory,while inspiring creativity and encouraging en-gagement with other cultures through its inter-national touring program and the triennialGolden Gate International Chil dren’s and YouthChoral Festi val. Martin Pakledinaz (1953–2012) (costume de-sign) designed costumes for theater, opera, anddance. He collaborated with Mark Morris onworks for MMDG, San Francisco Ballet, andBoston Ballet. Pakledinaz also created costumesfor works by Tomasson, Stowell, Wheel don,and Balanchine, among others. Mica Bernas, originallyfrom Manila, Philip -pines, received her earlytraining at the CulturalCenter of the Philip -pines Dance School. She later joined BalletPhilippines as a mem-ber of the corps de bal-

Sincemoving to New York in 2006, Bernas hasworked with Marta Renzi Dance, Armitage Gone Dance, Gallim Dance, Barkin/SelissenProject, and Carolyn Dorfman Dance (2007–13).She was a guest artist with the Limón DanceCom pany, performing at the 2013 Bienal Inter -nacional de Danza de Cali in Bogotá, Co lom - bia; Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater;and at the Joyce Theater for the company’s 70thanniversary in 2015. Bernas also teaches at theLimón Institute and has been on the faculty for BIMA at Brandeis University since 2011.She joined MMDG as an apprentice in January2017 and became a full-time company memberin August 2017.

Sam Black is originallyfrom Berkeley, where he began studying tap at the age of nine withKatie Maltsberger. Hegraduated with a BFA in dance from SUNYPurchase, and currentlyteaches MMDG master

classes and Dance for PD®. He first appearedwith MMDG in 2005 and became a companymember in 2007.

Elisa Clark, originallyfrom the Washington,DC area, trained at theMaryland Youth Ballet,prior to receiving a BFA from the JuilliardSchool, under the direc-torship of BenjaminHar karvy.  Clark first

worked with MMDG in 2005, and was a full-time company member until 2011, duringwhich time she won a Prin cess Grace Award.She was also a member of the Alvin AileyAmer i can Dance Theater (2013 –17), Battle -works Dance Company (2001–06), and the LarLubo vitch Dance Company (2001, 2011–12), inaddition to performing with the NederlandsDans Theater and the Metropolitan Opera atLincoln Center, in works by Jirí Kylián andCrystal Pite, respectively. Clark is currently afaculty member at the American Dance Festivaland at the University of the Arts, as well asbeing an artistic assistant and répétiteur toRobert Battle, whose work she is responsible forrestaging. Afterdancing with the company for seven years,Cournay is now the associate artistic directorof Keigwin + Com pany.

Derek Crescenti comesfrom Detroit, Michiganand received his BFAfrom the University ofMichigan. He dancedwith Donald Byrd’sSpec trum Dance Thea -ter from 2011–14, andhas also performed with

Domingo Estrada, Jr., anative of Victoria, Tex -as, studied martial artsand earned his blackbelt in 1994. He dancedballet folklorico with his church for 11 years.Estrada earned his BFAin ballet and modern

dance from Texas Christian University and hadthe honor of working with the late FernandoBujones. During his undergraduate studies heattended the American Dance Fes tival, wherehe performed in  Skylight, a classic work by choreographer Laura Dean. Lesley Garrison grewup in Swansea, Illinois,and received her earlydance training at theCenter of Creative Artsin St. Louis, Missouri,and Interlochen ArtsAcademy in Inter loch -en, Michigan. She stud-

ied at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie in theNetherlands and holds a BFA from PurchaseCollege. Garrison first performed with theDance Group in 2007 and became a companymember in 2011. She teaches at The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center and forMMDG’s Dance for PD® program.

Lauren Grant, honoredwith a New York Danceand Performance (“Bes -sie”) Award for her ca reer with the MarkMor ris Dance Group,has danced with thecompany since 1996, ap-pearing in more than 60

of Morris’ works. She stages Morris’ repertoryfor his company and at universities and conser-vatories, and teaches ballet and modern tech-nique for the Dance Group, The School at theMark Morris Dance Center, Jessica Lang DanceCom pany, Liz Gerring Dance Company, BalletPreljocaj, and at schools and universities aroundthe globe. Her writing has been published in thejournals Dance Education in Prac tice and BalletReview, and in Dance Magazine and Infinite -Body. She also serves as a panelist for the NewYork State Council on the Arts. Grant holds aBFA in dance from NYU’s Tisch School of theArts and is currently pursuing her MFA indance at Montclair State University, where sheis also an adjunct professor and a member of the National Honor Society for graduate andprofessional students. She is a recipient of theprestigious American Associa tion of UniversityWomen Career Devel opment Grant, the SonoOsato Scholarship for Graduate Studies, and theCaroline Newhouse Grant—all in support of heracademic pursuits. John Heginbotham  isfrom Anchorage, Alas -ka and graduated fromthe Juilliard School in1993. He was a memberof Mark Morris DanceGroup from 1998–2012.In 2011 he founded hisown company, Dance

Heginbotham (DH), which has been presentedby institutions including the Baryshnikov ArtsCenter, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM),Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, the KennedyCenter, and the Joyce Theater, among others. In 2016 DH toured to Indonesia, Laos, and thePhilippines with DanceMotion USASM, a culturaldiplomacy initiative of the US Depart ment ofState, produced by BAM. Brian Lawson beganhis dance training inToronto at CanadianChil dren’s Dance Thea -tre. There he workedwith choreographers in-cluding David Earle,Carol Anderson, andMichael Trent. Lawson

spent a year studying at the RotterdamseDansacademie in the Netherlands and gradu-ated summa cum laude in 2010 from PurchaseCollege, where he was also granted the Presi -dent’s Award for his contributions to the danceprogram. Lawson has had the pleasure of per-forming with Pam Tanowitz Dance, DanceHegin botham, and Nelly van Bommel’s NØADance, among others. He joined MMDG as an apprentice in 2011 and became a companymember in 2013.

Robert Lewis was bornin Grand Rapids, Mich -igan, and raised in LosAngeles. After graduat-ing from the Los Ange -les County High Schoolfor the Arts, Lewis’studies took him to Pur -chase, New York, where

he earned a BFA in dance from the Conser -vatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. While in New York, Lewis had the pleasure of train-ing abroad for a semester at the Hong KongAcade my of Performing Arts. He has per-formed in works by Nelly van Bommel, TwylaTharp, Samuel Pott, Stephen Petronio, DarshanSingh Bhuller, Sarah Mettin, Korhan Basaran,Kevin Wynn, and Bill T. Jones.

Courtney Lopes, originally from Bermuda, attended the University of North CarolinaSchool of the Arts for her high school educa-

tion, focusing on con-temporary dance, andgraduated magna cumlaude with a BFA indance from SUNY Pur -chase in 2012. Lopeshad the opportunity tostudy abroad in Taiwanat the Taipei National

University of the Arts. She has studied with theAmerican Dance Festival, José Limón DanceCompany, and Doug Varone and Dancers.Lopes has performed works by choreographersincluding Lar Lubovitch, Paul Taylor, JessicaLang, Larry Keigwin, and Huang Yi of CloudGate Dance Company. Amber Star Merkens,originally from New -port, Oregon, began her dance training withNancy Mittleman. Shereceived her BFA fromthe Juil liard School anddanced with the LimónDance Company before

receiving the Princess Grace Award and join-ing Mark Morris Dance Group in 2001. During

her time with MMDG, she performed in fea-tured and soloist roles including Dido/TheSorceress in Dido and Aeneas. She has pre-sented her own choreography in New York andabroad, taught workshops and camps at theMark Morris Dance Center, and worked as afreelance photographer for MMDG, Silkroad,and Brooklyn Rider, among others. Followingthe birth of her second child in 2013, Merkenstransitioned into another passion, one of sup-porting new families, and founded Mother toMother Postpar tum, LLC. She is thrilled to bedancing again with MMDG in The Hard Nutand would like to thank her family for their con-tinuous support.

Spencer Ramirez isthrilled to return to thestage with the MarkMorris Dance Group.He began his training inthe DC–Metropolitanarea at the MetropolitanFine Arts Center, theMary land Youth Ballet,

and the Houston Ballet, and eventually movedto New York City to study at the JuilliardSchool. He started his professional career withthe Mark Morris Dance Group, with which hetraveled around the world, both performingand teaching, from 2010–13. Wendy Reinert grewup in Saratoga Springs,New York, and trainedin classical ballet before attending Idyllwild ArtsAcademy in SouthernCalifornia and discov-ering modern dance.She graduated from

NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2003, whereshe performed in works by Nacho Duato,Trisha Brown, and Robert Battle. Since gradu-ating, Reinert has appeared with companies in-cluding Kun Yang Lin/Dancers, the Peri danceEnsemble, Lorena Egan Dance, and Cher y lynLavagnino Dance. She performs reg u larly with

the Met ro politan Opera Ballet. Reinert is alsoa professional aerial dancer and circus artist,performing her own work throughout NewYork City.

Weaver Rhodes wasborn and raised in Texas,where he received histraining from the Book -er T. Washington HighSchool for the Perform -ing and Visual Arts inDallas. He then went on to receive his BFA

in dance from SUNY Purchase in 2012. Rhodeshas performed with various companies, includ-ing Northwest Dance Project, Mettin Move -ment Collective, the Kevin Wynn Collection,and the Metropolitan Classical Ballet in Arling -ton, Texas. This is his third year performingwith the Mark Morris Dance Group in The HardNut. Rhodes has had the pleasure to work withartists including Robert Battle, Dwight Rho den,Jessica Lang, Kate Skarpetowska, Pat rick Cor -bin, Isaac Mizrahi, Pam Tanowitz, and Greg Dol- bashian. Christina Sahaida grewup in Pittsburgh, Penn -sylvania, and began herearly dance training at the Pittsburgh BalletThe a tre School. In 2012she graduated from But -ler University, receivinga BFA in dance perfor -

mance, with honors. She has worked with BalletQuad Cities, Texture Contemporary Ballet, andthe Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis,Missouri. Sahaida joined MMDG as an appren -tice in July 2017.

Billy Smith grew up inFredericksburg, Virgin -ia, and attended GeorgeMason University undera full academic anddance talent scholar-ship. He graduated mag -na cum laude in 2007and received achieve-

ment awards in performance, choreography,and academic endeavors. While at GeorgeMason, he performed in works by Mark Morris,Paul Taylor, Lar Lubovitch, Doug Varone, LarryKeigwin, Daniel Ezralow, Susan Marshall, and Susan Shields. Smith’s own piece, 3-WayStop, was selected to open the 2006 AmericanCollege Dance Festival Gala at Ohio State Uni -versity and his original choreography for a pro-duction of Bye Bye Birdie garnered much criticalpraise. Also an actor, Smith’s regional theatercredits include Tulsa in Gypsy, Mistoffelees inCATS, and Dream Curly in Oklahoma! Smithdanced with Parsons Dance from 2007–10. Hejoined MMDG as a company member in 2010.

Utafumi Takemura  received her BFA withhonors in dance from the State University ofNew York at Purchase and her MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she was a recipient of the Sied manAward for Dance. Take mura has per formed and

taught nationally andinternationally with nu-merous choreographers.In 2010 she received theNew York Dance andPer for mance (“Bessie”)Award with Pam Tano -witz Dance. She hasper formed with Mark

Joshua Tuason is a free-lance dance artist origi-nally from San Fran- cisco, where he began his training at the SanFran cisco Ballet. Helater obtained a BFAfrom Marymount Man -hattan College. He was

a member of the Martha Graham Ensembleand has participated in various reconstructionsof Merce Cunningham’s work through theCunningham Trust. A former member of theStephen Petronio Company (2009–17), he hasalso worked with Ian Spencer Bell, Ellen Corn -field, Wendy Osserman, Pat Catterson, andPam Tanowitz.
