Avicosán (ES) grades with unique MARELEC MC3/8B

Avicosán has a poultry slaughterhouse and processing plant, located in Barcelona,

Spain. The company has an enviable reputation for its high quality end products.

With respect to their chicken fillets (that were cut horizontally into slices),

Avicosán realized they needed a machine that would take care of the whole

process from weighing to packing, with one essential requirement being the

chicken fillets be kept together, because in the end each fillet had to be packed individually.

Gentle product handling was of crucial importance. To meet Avicosán’s expectations: MARELEC

Food Technologies designed the MC3/8B grader. This custom-built grading installation was

designed and built in a unique way which allows extremely gentle handling of the chicken fillets.

“We tested the machine with our products in other companies and were easily convinced of the

accurate cut and user-friendliness.”

“ The Portion Cutter is equipped with a CIP (Cleaning In Place) system. We also noticed that the

machine in operation is remarkably quiet.”

Pieter de Ruijter— General Manager

Strogoff (NL) chooses for 3D portioning with

MARELEC Food Technologies

MARELEC Food Technologies, in cooperation with their Dutch agent

Hans de Koning, recently delivered an Intelligent Portion

Cutter to Strogoff FreshFood, ‘the specialist in

culinary meat, fish, game &

poultry for the Dutch

professional kitchens’.

The Portio is suited for fresh products such as

fish fillets, whole fish, and meat and poultry

products. According to the product type,

different fixation systems can be applied and

different knife types, suitable for the product,

can be used. The product is fed on the infeed

belt. A state-of-the-art three dimensional

laser scanner calculates its volume. A preset

weight and shape frame is selected from the

program menu and the portion computer

calculates where to cut.

Thanks to the Portion Cutter the accuracy of

portioning increased and the cutting loss

was minimized, generating a superior

quality product while yielding greater

financial benefits for Strogoff. Pieter de Ruijter (l) from Strogoff and

New!New!

New!New!

In addition to the standard range of portion cutters, MARELEC

launches the new PORTIO 3/350 with a wider 350 mm belt.

This machine features:

Cuts boneless meat or fish up to 325 mm wide, 150 mm high

3 camera version

Up to 7 cuts/second

Innovations

Portio 3/350

In order to further improve the maintainability of our graders, a new

generation of grading belts has been launched. Accessibility to all

components (resulting in maximum hygiene) and cost effectiveness

have been the key features in the development process.

This results in:

Open structure

Modular concept: maintaining flexibility

with regard to your needs, but with

a shorter delivery time and

competitive pricing.

Rugged design

Concept of sub-

assemblies for

stainless steel

cylinders and

grading arms: this

dramatically reduces downtime in case of

service. Replace an assembly in 2 minutes and service the

sub-assembly when it fits you best.

Integration of take away conveyor eliminates many components:

less to clean and to pay for.

Batching bins released within seconds: clean it while tilted, have

it dried while hanging down, yet without removing any parts.

Graders H-series

Several countries located around the Mediterranean cultivate fish such as seabass and seabream. Automation and

cost-effective production are the key elements to ensure a continuous growth of both the fish industry and its

companies. To ensure high-quality end result, the products need to be processed as quickly as possible after catch.

Based on this perspective Cromaris from Croatia, called in MARELEC Food Technologies to install a double line grading installation at their

plant.

The (one line) grading machine that Cromaris already worked with, could not handle the increased production. Cromaris aims at processing

roughly 30 tons of fish a day. The best solution was to replace the existing grader by a double line grader. The MARELEC Food Technologies

team had to deliver and install the entire grading line in only a few months’ time. Thanks to the close cooperation with the customer, we

were able to meet the short deadline. The machine fulfills the extensive test protocol and meets the highest requirements.

Seeing the Cromaris grading installation convinced several other aquaculture producers to purchase a MARELEC grading line.

Aquaculture is booming!
