Pastors Corner In the gospel we find a dramatic scene where Jesus shows himself as Lord of the Temple. He drove out all the traders of cattle, sheep and animals and pigeons that were used in sacrifices, and the money changers. Such as business practices should have been carried out just outside of the temple. The Jews were trying to question him- what sign can you show us to justify doing this? Then Jesus replied: “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it.” He calls the temple his Father’s house, signifying a special relationship with God. The temple should be a place of worship, not a marketplace. Indeed, Jesus spoke about another temple where God lived-his own body. Through this event we are reminded during Lent of what we are preparing to remember and celebrate-the death and resurrection of Jesus. The agnostics and free-thinkers of our day should start to think about the real facts of life-the central ones of which are that Christ, who was the Son of God, took our human nature and lived for some time on this earth, so that he would raise us up to sonship with God. He suffered crucifixion because the world was full of sin when he came. But his death made atonement to the heavenly Father for all the sins of the world. His resurrection from the dead was the prelude and the guarantee that we shall all rise to a life of glory in heaven, if only we have followed him faithfully during our years on earth.

En el Evangelio encontramos una escena dramática donde Jesús se muestra a sí mismo como El Señor del Templo. Expulsó a todos los comerciantes de ganado, ovejas y animales y palomas que se utilizaban en sacrificios, y a los cambiadores de dinero. Tales como prácticas comerciales deberían haberse llevado a cabo justo fuera del templo. Los judíos estaban tratando de interrogarlo, ¿qué señal puede mostrarnos para justificar hacer esto? Entonces Jesús respondió: "Destruye este templo, y en tres días lo criaré." Él llama al templo la casa de su Padre, lo que significa una relación especial con Dios. El templo debe ser un lugar de culto, no un mercado. De hecho, Jesús habló acerca de otro templo donde Dios vivía de su propio cuerpo. A través de este acontecimiento se nos recuerda durante la Cuaresma lo que nos estamos preparando para recordar y celebrar la muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Los agnósticos y los libres pensadores de nuestros días deberían empezar a pensar en los hechos reales de la vida, los centrales de los cuales son que Cristo, que era el Hijo de Dios, tomó nuestra naturaleza humana y vivió durante algún tiempo en esta tierra, para que nos elevara a la filiación con Dios. Sufrió crucifixión porque el mundo estaba lleno de pecado cuando vino. Pero su muerte expiación al Padre celestial por todos los pecados del mundo. Su resurrección de entre los muertos fue el preludio y la garantía de que todos nos elevaremos a una vida de gloria en los cielos, si tan sólo lo hemos seguido fielmente durante nuestros años en la tierra.

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry The Knights of Columbus council 10930 will be hosting their annual Lenten fish fry! Combo plates are $10 and always accepting donations after initial cost. Combo plates include fresh fried fish, fries, and one side. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the fish fry is Drive-thru only. Sales begin after 5:30 PM on the side of the church by the carport. Please bring cash or check.

Special 2nd Collection | 2da Colecta Next week, our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection (CRSC). Funds from this collection provide food to the hungry, support displaced refugees, and bring Christ’s love and mercy to all people here and abroad. Carmelite Fundraiser The Ladies Auxiliary to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Most Holy Trinity invites you to our Divine Affair Fundraiser. O Holy Spirit, Spirit of wisdom and divine love, impart Your knowledge, understanding, and counsel to youth that they may know the vocation wherein they can best serve God. Give them courage and strength to follow God's holy will. Guide their uncertain steps, strengthen their resolutions, shield their chastity, fashion their minds, conquer their hearts, and lead them to the vineyards where they will labor in God's holy service. Amen.

Stations of the Cross | Via Crucis Join us for the Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent to reflect on the way of the Cross. 6pm in English and 7pm in Spanish.

The Vocations Office invites all men in high school and college to attend a weekly Holy Hour and series of discernment topics on Thursday evenings of Lent. This event will be at St. Patrick Cathedral and the evening will start with Holy Hour at 6:00 pm followed by dinner and a discussion of topics on prayer, seminary life, and the priesthood.
