• To expand and enhance the technology capabilities of the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center faculty and students to be successful in a global environment.

• All students at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center will be able to successfully complete performance assessments.

• Remove barriers to allow more student recruitment and retention at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center.

• Students will show proficiency in basic skills upon completion of a Career Center lab as evidenced by, their measurement of Work Keys scores according to their concentration.

• 10/22/13:• SBA Project Updates: new walls, new restrooms, and HVAC• Mission Statement and Goals: added a 4th goal due to the deficits found

according to our data profile in our students basic skills. • Skills USA Update: Mr. Collins shared our fundraising efforts for SkillsUSA,

Chicken BBQ in both Calhoun and Gilmer County. • Student Input: Paul Parsons opened the floor to the students and parents

present at the meeting for feedback on their CGCC experience, and anything that we may need to improve. Both students and parents had very positive feedback.

• Night Classes: Small Engine ATV, January; Welding, Monday Nights, November; Hardmans Class/OSHA Training, November; Venison 101 on November 14th through the extension agency.

• Certifications: CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10 hr and 30 hr courses, Chainsaw, NCCER, ASE(2 yr certification)/ ASE Professional Certifications are not currently available to students, until they are employed in the workplace for the 1 year- These are all the certifications offered to students at CGCC

LSIC – Local School Improvement CouncilLSIC – Local School Improvement Council • School Discipline Policy: Mr. Sterns discussed the importance of teaching new behaviors,

in addition to supplementing that with necessary punishment. • Fall Work Keys/WIN: Fall Work Keys has been very successful so far, with selecting

students that are ready to test in certain areas. • New Programs: Mr. Sterns introduced NRM instructor and program. Health Occupations

now has Phlebotomy. We are also working on getting a robotics program with our Networking Technology Program.

• Tech Centers That Work Update: Developed by SREB for shared student centers, like CGCC. We think that some of the initiatives will help us with the basic skills for our students. Dr. McNalley and the CGCC staff have collaborated on three instructional projects.

• WVEIS WOW Attendance Collection: We now collect attendance through an electronic WVEIS system!

• Fundraising: The Health Occupations class raffled of a his/her basket, while the Building Construction class raffled off a Shooting Shack. The Automotive lab is offering car wax, detail, and wash. The ProStart lab does bake sales during holidays. Criminal Justices sold Joe Corbi’s Pizza/ Cookie Dough. The Business Lab sells fliers, business cards, and other office items.

Line replaced with PVC, extension to PSD water, painting of doors and trim.

•Awarded: 2011• Student Computer Lab• $303,170 Grant• Construction took place in the Fall 2011

Operation Christmas ChildMr. Jacksons Criminal Justice Class bought gifts for a family of children in the community that weren’t going to get a lot for Christmas.

The whole class graciously brought in at least one gift. Mr. Jackson himself bought Nintendo 3 DS’s for each child in the household. He also bought a dinner for the whole family. They gave children that wouldn’t normally have a lot under the tree a great Christmas.

The family was so gracious that they sent a Thank You card for everything to the class.
