    Today , the communication is a real problem.

    Regarding the large quantity of information, the reception in good condition of the real sense of a message is aproblem for people in the modern society.

    Which message must be selected, which is useful for me, and most important what must to be my reactionlinked of this message?

    The lack of communication, in generally speaking, is the enemy of understanding an the friend of conflict.

    In Europe today to manage the conflict, to fight against intolerance is the main goal of an civil society

    Intolerance is everywhere and sometime we have the tendency to forget that our intolerance can bornintolerance of others

    The education, and in first row the non-formal education mast to play a n important role in this field.

    This brochure is the result of training Cartoon the stereotypes and prejudges- youth and European integration communication by unconventional methods, cartoons developed Busteni, Romania, 23-29 July 2004

    This project have been financed by European community trough YOUTH programme, cooperation with thirdcountries.

    Participants in this project: Romania, Germany, Netherlands, Serbia & Montenegro, Macedonia.

    How to use stereotypes as communicators

    Traffic signs are models for communicate any idea.

    Step by step

    Ask participants to propose some traffic signs for communicatewhat is forbidden in real life, in their countries, in communities

    Make teams (3-4 members)

    Ask participants to draw in traffic stile way other signs linked towhat must to be able or forbidden In their communities

    Each team will present sign (signs)

    Discussion

    The facilitator will ask the participants to present the importance oftraffic sign in daily life and what is happened if are no respectedtraffic rules.

    Compare the traffic rules with the rules in society, written or not.

    What kind of unwritten rules are in each country?

    Time: 60-70 mi

    Participants:10-60

    Goals: to input the feeling of diversity, to

    understand the otherStep by step:

    1.Each participant have a paper (A4) Thefacilitator explain that each paper (A4) will befold in 4 equal horizontal areas like aharmonium.

    2.Each participant will draw a hat.

    3.After that will pass the paper for nextparticipant and will receive other paper fromother participant.

    4.In second area will be draw the eyes,

    5.In the third area will be draw the mouth

    6. In 4th area will draw the chin or the beardand the neck.

    Reflection and evaluation: discussionregarding different ways to imagine a humane

    face made from different persons.

    The stereotypes game

    The game intent to sow the differences and similaritiesbetween cultures of participants, to present the stereotypesand prejudges.

    Resources: Paper, flipchart, markers, colors

    Group size: 10-60Time: 40-70 min

    Step by step: The facilitator ask participants to draw a hat,typical form their countries.

    The participants will explain from witch part of the countrycome this type of hat an a short history about the region.

    Reflection and evaluation: the game is useful for sow thediversity and similarities between cultures of the participants.

    This game alive: the facilitator can propose different variantsof this game. For example, participants must to guess fromwhere is the hat, or participants will draw a hat from othercountry

    The game is useful as know each other in the beginning of aproject in Action 1

    The stereotypes and nationality game

    The game present what others think about us, or how thepeople put together a image and the nationality

    Resources: flipchart, markers

    Time:30-60

    Participants: up to 10

    Step by step: facilitator write on the flipchart all thecountries of the participants and ask to suggest an imagelinked of this country.

    For example, the Belgians eat potatoes, French peopleeat baguette, German drink bier, etc

    The images will be draw on flipchart

    The game can be extent to others countries non involvedin project (Americans have lasso, Russian drink vodka,

    etc.

    Reflection and evaluation: the participants from eachcountry can confirm or not if the image is real, if all thepeople in a country can be linked from the image: All the

    Germans drink bier?, etc.

    Resources: paper, markers

    Time:30-60 min

    Participants: up to 10

    Step by step: In the first step each participant will draw on

    paper his/her own face.I the second step the facilitator make pears and eachparticipant will draw the face of partner

    Each participant will use his own portrait and the portrait madefrom partner to make photos.

    The result is a exhibition.

    Reflection and evaluation: the facilitator will propose to discusson what means the image of themselves, the image of other,an if the image replace the real face what is happened
