Client Overview:

The Manimals took on Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue located in Fort Christmas as our client. We will maintain contact with the owner, Shirley Cannan, through team member Jason Raulerson. Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our client is faced with the problem of space/funds to accommodate/provide for the rescued critters. On any given day the number of critters can range from 150 to 200+ on the property. Shirley is struggling to feed and house the massive amount of rescues she has taken on. Our client’s overall mission is to take in injured or wounded critters and rehabilitate them, with the long-term goal of releasing them back into the wild, becoming permanent resident at the facility, or finding them permanent homes. Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue offers a few services to their clients, the animals. They provide the critters with food, shelter, and a safe controlled environment until they are healthy again. Shirley also allows volunteer work to be done around the facility, which helps people with community service requirements. Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue operates from donations of outside parties. The information in this overview was found on the client’s website, www.falinpinesrescue.org.

Our Team’s Solution:

The Manimals will raise a minimum of $1,000 to benefit Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue using multiple events and fundraisers by April 1, 2015. The cornerstone project benefits Fallin’ Pines Critters Rescue by leaving them with funds to buy food for the animals, maintain the grounds, and add another shelter to the facility. By doing this the Manimal’s legacy will extend long past the duration of this class, and help animals that will need assistance far in the future. Not only are the recovered animals receiving a second chance at life, they are provided with a safe environment to get better in before they are adopted. Without the assistance of the cornerstone groups, Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue would not be able to financially provide for the animals that are being rescued in the future, and the ones that are currently on the property now. During all of our events throughout the remainder of the semester, we will be informing people about the work that Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue performs. By informing people about the facility could cause them to think about it during a time when they find a critter that needs rescue. Therefore, they will be more willing to stop and help a critter because they know of a place that will take the animal off their hands and help rehabilitate the critter.

Project Plan:

50/50 Raffle:

Project Manager: Jason Raulerson

SMART Objective:

Team Manimals will do a 50/50 raffle that will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 4:30 pm outside of the Student Union and will result in $100.00 towards our ultimate goal of $1,000 for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue.

Description:

Our group will start selling raffle tickets immediately for the drawing on March 18, 2015. Each ticket will cost $2.00 and will enter the participant in a drawing where the total amount sold will be split between our client and the winner. All tickets must be in the bowl by 4:25 pm the day of the drawing. Each team member will have tickets that they will sell throughout the remainder of the project to anyone and everyone they come across. Team members will not limit ourselves to just selling tickets on campus. We will penetrate the community by going door to door and different businesses and establishments that will allow us to sell tickets. We will also have a few donations such as gift cards to give away to participants that are present at the actual drawing. You must be present to win anything other than the grand prize.

Fallin’ Pines at Food & Wine:

Project Manager: Nick Anstey

SMART Objective:

Team Manimals will raise at least $100 by selling bottled water & calendars during the Food & Wine Festival for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue by February 22, 2015.

Description:

Our team will be hosting the event on Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando during the Food & Wine Festival on February 22, 2015. The event will consist of the team selling previously donated bottled water and official Fallin’ Pines Critter Calendars provided by our client. Intertwined with this event, Jason Raulerson will also be hosting his 50/50 raffle during this time as well (as such will be done at every event). The bottled water will be sold at $1.00 a piece and the calendars will be sold at a price of $15.00 set by our client. I anticipate that the event will run a length of 3-5 hours depending on our sales. Between all the festivities going on around us, the predicted warm weather, and the heavy foot traffic, I envision this event will be successful and the team will reach its goal of $100. We will be putting the FUN into fundraising, and will also be spreading much needed awareness.

3 point Shooting Contest:

Project Manager: Raymond Baillie

SMART Objective:

Team Manimals will raise $100 of the $1,000 by hosting a 3 point shootout on Saturday, March, 28 , 2015 inside the recreational gym starting at 12 pm.

Description:

Our group would be organizing a 3pt competition on March 28, 2015 at the UCF Gym Basketball Courts. Each contestant will pay $5 to have a chance to make as many baskets as they can from 5 different locations with 5 shots at each location. Scoring will be based on a made shot with their feet behind the line. The winner will win a couple gift cards from local businesses that have been donated to our group. Advertising for this event will start 2 weeks prior to the event, my team members will hand out flyers at the gym and student union as well as post the info onto UCF sports page.

Balloon Lottery:

Project Manager: Alex Marinas

SMART Objective:

Team Manimals will raise at least $100 in a classic balloon lottery in efforts to raise funds for Fallin Pines Critter Rescue by March 31, 2015.

Description:

Team Manimals will participate in a classic balloon lottery. This type of lottery is simple but extremely effective when performed properly. First, members of the group will approach local retail stores/restaurants and inform them about the Fallin Pines Critter Rescue. After educating them on this cause, we will present to them our fundraiser ideas and ask for donations. These donations may include vouchers, gift cards, or actual product. Once the fundraising material has been collected, we will gather one hundred balloons with specified numbers in them. Popping a balloon will only be $5. If the number you get from that balloon correlates with a prize, you win your reward instantaneously. We will repeat this process until all one hundred balloons have been popped.

Mardi Paws:

Project Manager: Nick Anstey

SMART Objective:

Team Manimals will raise at least $100 by selling food items during the Mardi Gras street party for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue by February 17, 2015.

Description:

Our team will be descending upon downtown Orlando to host an event outside the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday block party on February 17, 2015. The event will consist of the team selling the donated food and drink items as we pass out the Mardi Gras accessories to partygoers. The pricing for the drinks will be $1.00 and the pricing of the food will be $2.00 respectively. I envision that this event will run for a length of about four hours and will be successful due to the fact that the event will be providing the essentials that the partygoers crave.

Beach Event (Volleyball/Dodgeball Tournament):

Project: Shaun Jones

SMART Objective:

The Manimals’ Beach Event SMART goal is that this event will raise a minimum of $200 by having at least 15 people registered to compete in volleyball and dodgeball events to benefit Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue by March 15, 2015.

Description:

Manimals beach event will consist of 2 events, a volleyball and dodgeball tournament. There will be an entrance fee of $20.00 of which half will be donated to Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue. The other half will go towards a cash prize for the winners of the tournaments. We will also have food and beverages available for purchase/donations. All revenue over our initial cost will also be donated. Team members will help in organizing and managing event such as handling funds, officiating events, and assisting with food and beverage stations.

Manimals Poker Night:

Project Manager: Joel Kohn

SMART Objective:

The Manimals Poker Night SMART goal is that this event will raise a minimum of $200 by having at least 20 people registered to play, to benefit Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue by March 22, 2015.

Description:

The Manimals’ Poker Night event is a business casual game night in which half of every participant’s $20 “buy-in” will be donated to Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue and the other half to the total victory pot. With one’s $20 “buy-in” non-alcoholic beverages will be provided as well as catered food. Catered food will be served on a counter-top that includes hot pads to keep food warm. This food will be provided by Alex Marinas father’s catering business. If one is interested in alcoholic beverages each one will be sold for $2 with all proceeds from alcohol going directly to the organization. Alcoholic beverages will be served from bar in corner by Shaun Jones who is an experienced bartender. This bar will include a keg on tap as well as bottled liquor available for anyone 21 years or older. Each playing table will have 5 players, with 8 tables for a total of 50 players. Each time a player leaves a table the ante and “buy-in” will increase allowing for the tournament style poker game to flow more efficiently.

GoFundMe Fundraiser:

Project Manager: Ryan Pappas

Smart Objective:

Team “Manimals” will raise $100.00 on March 8, 2015 outside of Publix Supermarket by getting customers to donate using provided tablets.

Description:

The “Manimals” will have a table set up in front of the Publix Supermarket with two to three iPads/ Tablets available. As customers enter and exit the store the group will be approaching and explaining the means of our GoFundMe fundraiser. Those who choose to participate and donate to our group project will be guided to our table, where they will donate by entering their information into our iPads/Tablets on our GofundMe site. We will also have complementary Aquafina water which has been donated to the “Manimals” group from Pepsi Co. Each participant who kindly donates to our fund will be offered refreshments along with our gratitude.
