MANAGING ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANING IN HEALTH AND CARE Framework for Managers (all sectors/providers) Environmental cleaning in health and care environments is a key intervention in minimising risks of cross-infection and maintaining a Compliance with the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 requires compliance with a range of fundamental standards (previously essential standards) which will be reviewed during the revised CQC inspection process in 2015. encompassing these fundamental standards and will form the basis of the revised inspection process. The standards of relevance to environmental cleaning include: ‘All premises and equipment used by the service provider must be clean, secure, suitable for the purposes for which they are being used, properly used, properly maintained, and appropriately located for the purpose for which they are being used. Also: ‘The registered person must, in relation to such premises and equipment, maintain standards of hygiene appropriate for which they are being used’. Health and Care facilities are also required to comply with the Health & Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974, COSHH Regulations 2009 and other legislation together with a number of expert guidance processes and frequencies and this new cleaners managers course will bring all of these new changes and the guidance together in a comprehensive and detailed manner for the supervisor/ decon- taminations leads and managers of cleaners in any health and care sector. This training course still applies to all health care providers even where you may outsource your cleaning arrangements.
