COURSE OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:• Describe the various types of cleft conditions and craniofacial anomalies and understand treatment goals and timelines
• Recognize the role of presurgical orthopedics and orthodontics in the successfultreatment of cleft lip and/or palate
• Discuss the effects of middle ear disease and the role of audiology in caring forchildren who have cleft lip and/or palate
• Describe and identify treatment strategies for feeding infants who have cleft lip and/or palate
• Identify and describe techniques for assessment and treatment (therapeutic, surgical, and prosthetic) of velopharyngeal insufficiency in children who havecleft lip and/or palate and other medical conditions
ACCREDITATIONThis activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements for 7.9 contact hours. Nurses and other health care professionals are responsible for determining whether this activitymeets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
