EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Career development is more than just deciding on a major and what job you want to get when

you graduate. It is imported to find everyone to the right way to make success.

Choosing Career:

Knowing yourself - what you like?

What you are good?

What is important to you?

I want to build my career in Garments Industry in merchandising sectors. Merchandising is an

important work in garments sector. So that merchandiser job is essential for every garment.

Merchandiser take care this condition seriously. Because if buyers do not get products due time

then they will not come again that garments.

The garment industry has played a pioneering role in the development of industrial sector of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh garments industries produce clothes for both domestic and international markets.

Along with 5500 export oriented garments industry there are at least another 3000-3500

garments industry that works on sub-contracts and for local markets.

Readymade Garments Industry is the leading foreign currency earning sectors of Bangladesh.

Now-a-days Bangladesh financial sector is very much dependent upon this sector. The annual

export income of garments sector is driven from two sources one is woven garments and others

is knit wear. Redimet garments is a 100% export oriented garments. Redimet garments exports

various garments product in foreign market. The company makes shirts, ladies dress, shorts,

trousers, and others for U.S.A, U.K, Europian countries countries.

INTRODUCTION

You’re Career development is a life-long process and that is whether you know it or not,

actually started when you were born! Career Counseling is a process that will help you to

know and understand yourself and the world of work in order to make career successful,

Qualifications, educational, and life decisions. Career is to stay or leaded something that is

helping you to success in future.

There are a number of factors that influence your career development, including your

interests, abilities, values, personality, background, and circumstances.

Career Counseling is a process that will help you to know and understand yourself and the

world of work in order to make career successful, Qualifications, educational, and life

decisions.

"Career" was traditionally associated with paid employment and referred to a single

decisions. The goal of Career Counseling is

to not only help you make the decisions you need to make now, but to give you the knowledge

and skills you need to make future career and life decisions.

In today's world the term career is seen as a continuous process of learning and development.

Career Choices

Making the best career choices involves:

knowing yourself - what you like (your

interests), what you are good at (your skills and abilities), what is important to you (values)

getting to understand the world of work - what’s out there

learning how to make informed decisions

Finding out how to achieve objectives.

Career planning is essential for those the mining industry to succeed & too particularly as the

mining industry has been in so much turmoil in recent years which has resulted in job

opportunities having shrunken tremendously. “Freed”

For this reason planning and setting milestones for your desired career path in mining is more

essential & important. In order to progress in your career and achieve the goals that you have

set yourself, you will need to plan forward, and work on developing your skill set.

You will also need to actively pursue employee development opportunities that may arise and to

ensure that you gain the relevant work experience needed badly.

OBJECTIVE

Doing this will give you a sense of direction, the opportunity to reflect on how your career path

is progressing, whether you are achieving the milestones that you have set yourself, and the

opportunity to recognize where things may be

going wrong.

In order to really succeed, we need to take

charge of our career, and to take ownership

for shaping it. In order to achieve this takes

planning, and will include the following:

Taking Charge of your Career Path:

Plan forward. Put on paper where you see yourself going in your career, and plot each

step that you will need to reach, in order to get there & thatch the goals.

Self-assessment. Routinely assess your skills, your potential, your strengths and

weaknesses and your ability to fulfill your aims.

Self-development. Once you have assessed yourself, always ensure that you pay attention

to any loopholes that you may have identified in your self-assessment, and ensure you

come up with an action to correct and fill these loopholes.

Work on getting the right experience. Try to gain as much experience as possible in your

job, take on additional projects and work if possible, in order to be able to gain new

experience.

Make yourself indispensable. You need to be the best you can possibly be, to ensure that

you are not overlooked for promotions and future roles. Remember that in the work place

that all moves and promotions are based on high levels of competencies and job

performances.

Networking is critical. Really work on your networking skills and ensure that the

networks that you create are relevant to your job choices and career aspirations.

Networking is not just about making contacts, it’s about making the right contacts and

getting to known and earning the respect of those that may be able to assist in your

career aspirations.

Find a mentor. If possible and your company offers this facility, find a mentor. A mentor

can help you in obtaining essential knowledge and information that will enable you to

quickly learn what is required in your job, and help you succeed. A mentorship program

forms important relationships with those that can help in your career progression.

Training. Keeping up to date with training is essential particularly in the highly

competitive and every changing mining industry. Take advantage of any opportunities for

training that come your way.

Succession Planning. Succession planning is a process where employees are recruited,

trained and developed to fill each key position within a company. Actively pursuing

succession planning opportunities will ensure you are constantly developing and

progressing in your career.

Transfers and lateral moves. Should you feel you are stagnating in your current role,

and that there is little chance for progression, ask for a transfer, even if it is lateral move,

if it means you will gain wider and broader experience.

My Career: (Merchandising sectors)

I want to build my career in Garments Industry in merchandising sectors. It is the easy Way to

make success. Now a day’s Garments Industry is became more profitable place to make you

better. Bangladesh is a perfect place to put you on it.

Merchandising is an important work in garments sector.

So that merchandiser job is essential for every garment.

Merchandiser take care this condition seriously. Because

if buyers do not get products due time then they will not

come again that garments.

In this job the employer must have need hard working

mind, convincing power, instant intelligence, powerful

observation, patience etc. Though it took a rather late start i.e., in 1976 but it soon established

its reputation in the world market within a short span of time. Bangladesh is the second largest

garment producer in the world after China. In the financial year 2012-2013 the country

exported RMG of $21.5 billion which is 78% of the total national export and in this financial

year the target is over $23 billion. Overall all things remaining I want to take me in this sector.

There are many sectors to make you better, but you need to know about Garments relater work.

Specific Objectives:

To know the merchandising activities of Garments.

To know the overall internal and external environment of this garments.

Identify the major opportunity and threat of Garments.

Discuses with some knowledgeable person about our Career & Success.

Especially I use various websites as well as Bangladesh garments industry & Abroad.

I have also written down my Assignment on the basis of primary and secondary data.

I have also got the information from Vision Garments.

employees such as Md. Azizur Rahman and Md. Ashraful Alam.

ANALYSES FINDING

Garment Industry of Bangladesh:

The garment industry has played a pioneering role in the development of industrial sector of

Bangladesh. Though it took a rather late start i.e., in 1976 but it soon established its reputation in the world market within a short span of time Bangladesh is the second largest garment

producer in the world after China. In the financial year 2012-2013 the country exported RMG of $21.5 billion which is 78% of the total national export and in this financial year the target is over

$23 billion. Medium and large size firms produces bulk quantity

for export market as well as domestic market are

located only in few zones, like in Dhaka city,

Gazipur city, Ashulia town, Savar, Narayanganj,

Norshingdi, Manikganj and Chittagong city. In

recent years the garments industry is growing

rapidly in other parts of the country as well

especially in the export processing zones like Ishwardi EPZ, Uttara EPZ, and Comilla EPZ etc.

There are five departments exist in Head office of Lyric Garments. These are

1. Accounts 2. Marketing and Merchandising

3. HRM 4. Production

5. Commercial

Merchandising:

Garments industries are equipped with lots of departments. The merchandising process with the

correspondence of buyers and merchandiser. In the very fast there is e-mail communication with

the buyer. In the very fast there is e-mail communication with the buyer. The buyers send a mail

with the design specification to the merchandiser to prepare the sample and costing. Then the

prepared sample and costing of the sample is sending to the buyer through mail. If the sample is

approved by the buyer then it is the turn for negotiate the costing. Starting from fabric store to

dispatch center there are at least 12-15 departments that work together to ensure smooth

operation. A co-ordination between these departments hence, is essential. Moreover, most of the

garments industry has to source their raw material from abroad or from some other local

suppliers. So there is a big loop of supply chain involved. Especially, the woven garments mostly

have to source their fabric from China. Merchandisers are responsible to ensure all the

materials are in house in time and all the operations are running in time. In simple words,

merchandisers make co-ordination between all the departments to reach the goal.

Merchandisers are also responsible to communicate with buyers and suppliers and interpret

their requirements in the production line. In many factories merchandisers are also engaged in

commercial tasks like export, import and shipment. So merchandisers are the most important

personnel of a garment industry. Diploma/graduates of Apparel Manufacturing, Apparel

Merchandising and Textile Engineers are mostly suitable for this position.

RECOMMENDATON

Every Person has to select the right career in your life. If touches the right place you can

success. Life will become shine. As a Person you have to manage your career in remaining

every matter. Right time right salutation and make you life better. I am not taking about you

to select Garment you only select that thing, if you know that is right or bright for you.

As an employee merchandiser’s job is vital and risky. Because buyers satisfaction depends on

merchandiser’s handling power. If garments deliver the products according to the buyers due

time, responsible price and their demand able style then the buyers will come again, because

they are satisfied. For this satisfaction of buyers, the responsible person is the merchandiser.

I like to play the chilling thing & merchandiser’s is always taking Challenge.
