John writes:

Harvest Festival at St. James has come and gone for this year and what a great occasion it was to see so many people giving thanks to the Lord after having such a wonderful year, we have a lot to be thankful for. We all know people are finding times very hard but we have to be grateful for what we have, the good times will come again.

Rev. Edwin Hunter spoke of this in his address about giving thanks and not to worry, it was great to see him back in St. James.

Our Harvest this year was celebrated with Holy Communion and having The Clerks Choral leading the singing really enhanced the service making it very inspiring.

The Clerks Choral were very impressed with the decorations and said what a display it is a very big undertaking and I am very grateful to all the people who decorated the windows. It was great to see the Mothers Union represented this year, they do great work (thank you members)

Our school children sang their hymn beautifully with their teacher at the organ. She has told me they hope they can keep up the tradition doing their harvest scene it is always much admired. The dahlias were beautiful.

I must not forget our Africian friends bringing their offerings to the Holy table what a display of colour proceeding up the aisle they really complimented the windows. Several people remarked that they were so colourful.

The Church was full. The collection is going to Vincent de Paul and No 1 School two deserving causes.

We have a new helper assisted with the flower arranging in St. James only for him I would never have got it completed and I must say it was all very rewarding.

Thanking you again to all the people involved and to our Canon Eithne for preparing a lovely service and the printing of invitations for me, people have to be contacted.

Thanks to the ladies for providing the refreshments it was all delicious.Looking forward to seeing you all at Doneraile and Castletownroche this month. Dates on the newsletter for the Harvest Festivals.

Kind regards,

John CoulterRuth Sherlock (People Warden) on behalf of the parishioners
