The course was Managing Information and Knowledge: Applied Knowledge Services, designed to teach students the principles of management as they relate to enterprise-wide information and knowledge services. In addition to the practical focus of the course, attention is given to the philosophy and history of information and knowledge services, specifically as this background affects students’ future performance as business managers and leaders in the workplace. The focus is on management and leadership skills, knowledge sharing, and the role of knowledge strategy in strengthening the corporate knowledge culture. Louise has been an exceptional student in the course and I am extremely satisfied with her understanding of the principles we teach and the progress of her success in this course. Her research project for the course described the development and implementation of a knowledge strategy for a major corporation, and she excelled in her work on the project. Louise attained a final grade in the course of A+, which is the highest grade a student can earn at our university. She is a natural leader, evidenced by the authority of her contributions to class discussions (the course is taught as a seminar, requiring participation from all students). I am also impressed with her understanding of the role and value of well-executed knowledge services in the workplace. In achieving this understanding, she completed her reading assignments with much enthusiasm and eagerly shared her understanding of the authors’ perspectives in class discussions. Louise’s writing skills are excellent, and she has a demonstrated enthusiasm for management and leadership. I have watched with great interest her growing appreciation for knowledge services; her understanding and grasp of the concepts and principles of the discipline have been extraordinary. I have no hesitancy in recommending her for future studies and for her career work. Please contact me if you have any questions. It is an honor and a privilege to provide a recommendation for Louise Haugaard Malling. Yours sincerely,

To whom it may concern:

During the fall of 2015 Louise Haugaard Malling was my student in a course at Columbia University in the City of Neew York.
