2 year Leaving Certificate •Students study 7 academic subjects for their leaving certificate •Students study and sit exams in 8 subjects if they qualify for LCVP

Leaving Certificate Applied
What is the Leaving Certificate Applied?
• It emphasises forms of achievement and excellence which the established Leaving Certificate has not recognised in the past
• It is a distinct, self-contained two-year Leaving
Certificate programme aimed at preparing students for
adult and working life
Who would benefit most?
• Students who are not adequately catered for by other Leaving Certificate programmes
• Students who choose not to opt for those programmes
• Students who wish to do a course in any of the Colleges of Further Education (students may progress then to Universities & Institutes of Technology)
• Students who want to get an Apprenticeship
• Students who want to go directly into the World of Work
• Prepares students for adult and working life
• Promotes communication and decision making skills
• Applies knowledge and skills to the solution of real problems
• Recognises talents of all pupils
