Stephen studied at Wimbledon School of Art obtaining a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting; he still paints and draws on occasion for special commissions. He regularly competes in triathlon and running events utilising his fitness gained from motorsport training. Other hobbies include playing the guitar, of which he has four, and golf.
