Could you see yourself as a Rugby High Girl?

Page 2: Main School Prospectus 2016 2.3

Guess what? You might actually be a Rugby High girl – you just don’t know it yet.

What some people don’t realise is, you don’t have to be any one type of person to go to Rugby High. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from or what you want to be.This is the school that lets you be whoever you want to be.

Ask yourself this. What’s the scariest thing about starting a new school?

If you went to Rugby High, the chances are very few people from your old school would be there.

In fact, you might even be the only one.

Do you know what? Most of the students here said the same thing: that was their biggest worry when they started. The next thing they said was that as soon as they got here, they started making friends.

Seriously. Rugby High. Have you thought about it – REALLY thought about it?

“I’m not shy anymore, I’m the same but louder!”

As you know, there is one very specific thing about Rugby High. It’s Rugby High School For Girls. Which of course means, no boys.Isn’t that a bit weird? We asked our students what they thought about it.

“You can concentrate well without them” said one. “I get on well with boys as friends – they’re good mates”, said another. “But they can be a distraction”.

“To be honest, you actually don’t notice after a while. And anyway, there are always some more boisterous girls around who make up for them not being there”.

Would you fit into an all girls school? You might find it suits you more than you think: you can socialise with boys when you want to, and not have to put up with them when you don’t.

What do you want to do?

The career question. It’s a common one, usually asked by well-meaning adults.

The fact is, some people know from a young age what they want to do. Others think they know, but find out in time that they actually want to do something different.

“In year 7, I wanted to be an astronaut!” says one sixth former who is now focused on a career in the legal profession. Others say, “I have absolutely no idea” – and there’s nothing wrong with that.

This is a place for young people who are happy to learn and thrive while working out the answers to the big questions.

Your aspirations may be professional, scientific, creative or entrepreneurial. You may know where you are headed, or you might want to work it out over time. Rugby High is the place where you can feel secure in who you are.

At this school, you don’t just learn about the world: you learn about yourself.

“The trips get better as you go up through the school, - the 6th form

ones are amazing!”Year 8 Student

“It’s not like a school”

This is something lots of our students say – that Rugby High doesn’t feel quite like a school. What do they mean?

After all, it is a school: there is a uniform, and rules – and of course, you get homework.

Many Rugby High girls say that although the rules and structure are there, they don’t notice so much because this is a place where students want to learn.

Reach your full potential

At Rugby High, you get to do things most students don’t do until they’re at university.

You can find our students taking part in debates at national level, studying philosophy in India, acting as lawyers in a moot court, entering national engineering competitions and running businesses.

All of these initiatives have been driven by the girls’ own interests and passions.

What would you like to do?
