Masthead is bold, plain, white, and clean looking. This makes it easy to see no matter what the background is and also takes the attention away from the image which is the

main attraction on this cover. It also gives the magazine a business feel as it is not flashy or

over the top with colour.

Image is large and takes up the majority of the magazine cover which makes it the main

attraction. it still remains simple and not too flashy so the magazine keeps its formal look.

Slogan is small and out of the way. Rests on top of the logo so it doesn’t seem out of place on its own

and also doesn’t make the cover look like it has too much text.

Cover title is the second largest font on the magazine which means it is second important. The masthead is what tells a reader what magazine it is so that must be

the largest so the magazine is easily spotted by readers. Cover title is catching and also keeps to the plain

tradition that the magazine has kept. the font style is Ariel-like and the size is sensible yet eye-catching.

The lines are retro-style and give the cover a modern kind of look which shows the school is up to date. They

also make the cover look less simple whilst also maintaining the business-like feel the cover has.

Cell lines are small to keep out of the way though have a lot of information about the magazine

which means there is a lot of content in this issue.

The line cuts off the main part of the cover from the subheadings part which also makes them look more out of the way as not to take attention away from the main image. It has a gradient on it so it doesn’t look too plain and is coloured green to match the cover’s

colour scheme of the school’s green.

The background is also plain and simple so the image stands out more. it’s blurred and spotted with light effects to give it a dazzling effect which matches the main topic of the magazine which is the

year 11 prom. It has a little colour but these a subtle and not so bright as to drag away too much attention. It’s also faded black towards the

bottom so the smaller letters can be easily seen.

The subheading titles are coloured with differed shades of green to keep the cover interesting and not so boring. They are the third largest font which means they are

third most important. They display what this issue is about.

The colour scheme is mainly green which is the school’s colours. This goes along with the

pale colours used in the main image.

Page 2: Magazine Annotation

The main image takes up half the page with a dark lighting so the heading stands out more despite having a bright font. The image also has a faded effect on it so it is blurred out a bit towards the bottom. This makes look

more like the image wasn’t just placed there and makes the magazine look more professional.

The heading is again simple and brightly coloured with the word ‘principal’ in a different colour to the rest of the text to give it a special meaning. The font is

squared off in an Ariel style and gives the magazine more of a business type feel.

The main text body is very large and takes up half the page. The text is small so it doesn’t look too messy and keeps in tact

that formal appearance. It’s sectioned off into strips to make the magazine look more professional and neat.

These speech marks make the page look a little less boring and are also coloured with the school’s colours to

match the colour scheme.

The title is small and white so it blends in well with the background and is clearly visible. The font is a stylish Cambria-styled font and is placed near the centre to the side of the magazine with the largest font on the page so it’s made clear that

this is the masthead.

Picture is the main attraction of the cover at it is placed at the centre and takes up half the

cover. From his facial expression and clothes, we can tell this issue’s main topic will be about

a drama event.

Background is a plain back to give the writing and images more attention. It also gives the magazine a gold and black colour scheme

which are the school’s colours.

Yellow bar gives the title of the issue more attention and also brings in the gold and

black colour scheme.

Pictures give us a brief insight of what the magazine might include in this issue and also

gives us a summary of the school’s impressive extra-curricular activities. The

images are neatly placed under the banner and don’t look too out of place.

Page 4: Magazine Annotation

Banner at the top of the page is a greyish blue which gives the page a business feel and also keeps it

from being too plain and boring.

Masthead is to the side to make the page more interesting and not just plainly laid out. ‘Contents’

and ‘2014’ are two different colours to separate the words and also show that the word ‘contents’ has some importance. It’s the largest font of the page

which shows that it is the most important set of text on the page.

The page numbers are different colours to bring some excitement to the page and

are laid out neat so they are easy to read. There’s quite a bit of space between the page edge and contents list to centre them a bit more so the page looks less

cramped.

Images give examples of what the issue will be about and also displays the kinds of extra-curricular

activities the school provides.

Page 5: Magazine Annotation

This typography is made so the picture is inside the text which shows that the cover is

creative. And the images also show the kinds of events and extra-curricular activities that the school has taken part in. The text is the largest text on the cover which shows it’s what’s most important on the cover and the style of the text

is a thick Ariel-like with blocked words.

The colour scheme is read and green which are the colours of the school. The

cover has done this by having a red background with a green spine that overlaps onto the first page and also have images that include the school’s uniform on it. The colourfulness of it

shows that this school might just be a middle school and is based more around

younger children.

The background is a plane red but has a faded image of the schools logo on it which stops the cove from

being too boring and simple.

Page 6: Magazine Annotation

The top of the contents page has a banner of a light grey and a light almost greyish green. This gives it a business-like feel and also

makes this look more than just a blank white page with writing on it,

The contents are coloured depending on what group they’re placed in to

make it easier to read.

The contents are grouped depending on the topic and this makes it easier to read and also makes the page

look more organised which emphasises on how professional looking this magazine is.
