Our Story.Moorabool Community Enterprises Limited trading as Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch opened its doors in November 2011. Three hundred local shareholders believed in the Community Bank® concept and collectively raised $752,110 to open the branch at 135 Inglis Street, Ballan.

While banking is our business, community is our purpose. Our shareholders live in our community. Our employees and Directors live in our community. Our customers live in our community. The community benefits each time a customer chooses to bank with us. By bringing your business to us, we can contribute more to the community groups in our district. We extend as far as Myrniong in the east, Mount Wallace in the south, Dunnstown in the west and Mollongghip in the north and include the townships of Bungaree, Wallace, Gordon, Mount Egerton and Ballan.

To 30 June 2018, we have invested almost $300,000 back into our local communities. Every year that our branch grows, we can invest more into the local recreation reserves, sporting clubs, hospital, historical societies, art networks, farming associations, schools, kindergartens and playgroups and to help stage local events. You may have seen the sign on the Community Bus or at your local sporting oval, ‘made possible by our customers’. Our customers create our success. The more business we generate, the more we can give back. It’s why we support the community groups who support us.

We held our first Community Planning Forum on 18 July 2018 to hear what projects the community wanted. 53 residents attended from all towns in our district and identified more than 70 projects. Some are large like the redevelopment of the Ballan Recreation Reserve and a Community Hub. Others are smaller in size but equally important. The ideas received at our Community Planning Forum will inform our Community Investment strategy.

Our Community Investment Program.With such high demand for our community investment dollars, we introduced a new timeline, application form, conditions and assessment criteria in 2018/19. There will be two opportunities to apply: in the lead up to our November Annual General Meeting and prior to our Community Investment evening in May.

All applicants must complete this Community Investment Application Form in full and email to [email protected] by the close date on our website and Facebook page. Applications can also be hand delivered to Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch at 135 Inglis Street, Ballan. The conditions listed below must be adhered to for your application to be assessed.

Conditions for applying for community investment funding:

- Moorabool Community Enterprises Limited will only support incorporated bodies with a valid ABN/ACN who carry out their activities within Ballan & District communities.

- Valid quotes must be provided to support the purchase of equipment or materials for a project. A budget is to be provided if you are staging an event or delivering a project.

- If you are requesting partial funding, evidence that the additional funds have been received or the applicant has the cash reserves to contribute to the initiative must be provided.

Moorabool Community Enterprises Limited is unable to assess your application until these conditions are met and all the questions in this application form are answered.

Moorabool Community Enterprise Limited has established criteria to assess each application, including:

- Does the organisation currently bank with Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch? - If not, will the organisation and/or their members transfer their banking to the Ballan & District

Community Bank® Branch? - To what degree does this event/project/initiative align with our Strategic Plan priorities? - How broad is the likely community impact and benefit of this event/project/initiative? - How will the organisation market and promote Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch? - To what extent has the organisation supported Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch through

advocacy and bringing their banking business to our Community Bank® Branch?

- Sign a Community Investment Agreement with Moorabool Community Enterprises Limited that clearly states each parties’ responsibilities and the terms and conditions of the financial support.

- Provide an ATO-compliant invoice for the transfer of funds into a Ballan & District Community Bank® account

- Actively promote the Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch. Logos will be provided in the Information pack.

- Provide relevant media, including photos, videos, Facebook posts and testimonials for our future publicity. This media may be used on social media platforms.

- Provide a Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch representative the opportunity at least once in the next 12 months to make a presentation to your committee, governing body and/or organisation either at your Annual General Meeting or otherwise agreed.

- Attend a formal event hosted by Ballan & District Community Bank® Branch (like the Annual General Meeting or Community Investment evening) that acknowledges the financial support of your event/project/initiative.

- Within 90 days of the event/receipt of funds/purchase of equipment, complete a report detailing the success or otherwise of the expected outcomes of your event/project/initiative and how the funding was expended.
