Job prospects \ From plan-ning offices to research institutesThe MIAD qualifies graduates for positions in the private commercial sector as well as for the public sector.

Job sectors include in particular architectural offices, engi-neering and planning offices as well as the construction in-dustry, research institutes and universities. Other possibili-ties are also in specific technological fields, such as studies in software application and simulation technology, the research in new manufacturing methods, of construc-tion or material innovation; these areas are covered in par-ticular in the specialised modules with changing themes and best-practice examples.

Profile \ A full time Master programme in four semes-tersThe consecutive Master of Science in Integrated Architec-tural Design (MIAD) is offered as a full-time course in Ar-chitectural Design.

Globalisation in general and the construction industry in particular have brought about new demands on buildings and construction projects, new demands that also take into account local conditions. Planning, too, is changing in line with the new requirements. Moreover, digital technology has also effected lasting changes to architecture, from the planning and production stage right through to execution, and job profiles are getting more sophisticated accordin-gly.

The Master programme therefore teaches in particular the-oretical and practice-oriented skills of digital analysis-, de-sign-, planning- and production methods, in addition to the traditional design and planning methods, and gives a de-tailed overview of the latest technological developments. The programme also includes operative aspects of infor-mation technology, new developments in building materi-als and scientific work in architectural education.

Interaction/Cooperation with external partners and inter-national networks: The programme focuses on qualifying architects for interdisciplinary, international and to a gro-wing extent digitally supported jobs. Special emphasis is laid on the cooperation between the university and external partners, on links to other universities, planning offices, the construction industry and to software manufacturers. The standard study period is four semesters. Architectural De-sign is taught in German and English (some core modules only).

Master‘s degree \ Internatio-nally recognizedStudents graduating from this master’s degree course will earn the “Master of Science“ (M. Sc.) degree which is inter-nationally recognized. With the relevant background the degree provides the qualification to practice as architect and also gives access to doctoral studies. The degree qua-lifies for a position in the senior public service.
