Luke 7:1-10

• Believes Jesus Can Solve Problems We Cannot– Centurion’s servant was sick and ready to die

What could he do? Why not just give up & move on? “Things impossible w/ men are possible w/ God” – Lk. 18:27

– Centurion’s faith was in the Great Physician He had healed earlier in Capernaum – John 4:46-53 None else can heal all our soul’s diseases!

– Centurion’s full confidence was in power of Jesus “Say the word and my servant will be healed” – Luke 7:7 His WORD brought world into existence – Psalm 33:6, 9 His WORD healed on numerous occasions His WORD can and will save – James 1:21; Romans 1:16

• Feels Unworthy Before the Lord– Centurion did not compare himself to others

The world/others should not be our standard – Lk. 18:11

– Centurion compared himself to Christ He realized he was not deserving He felt, in comparison, deep humility/unworthiness

– Centurion did one of hardest things in the world He got himself out of the way He recognized his utter dependence on the grace of God Luke 9:23 – “deny self” – only way to come to Christ Isaiah 6:5-7 – “I am undone” – only way to be purged Luke 18:13 – “God be merciful” – only way to be justified

• Acknowledges Jesus’ Supreme Authority– Centurion had authority – understood obedience– Even better, he understood Jesus had authority

He saw that the realm of nature was obedient to Jesus He knew Jesus had authority, even if not present

– Is there any reason you and I should not obey? Wind, sea, storm & disease obey Him! He has all authority – Matthew 28:18 All we do/say is to be directed by His authority – Col.

3:17 We must obey Him (His Word) to:

– Acceptably please the Lord – Luke 6:46– Be prepared for judgment – John 12:48– Enter the kingdom of heaven – Matthew 7:21-23

• Believes Jesus Can Solve Problems We Cannot• Feels Unworthy Before the Lord• Acknowledges Jesus’ Supreme Authority

“Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.’” – Matthew 8:13

“Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” – Luke 18:8

• Believe Jesus is God’s Son – Mark 16:16

• Repent of your sins – Luke 13:3

• Confess your faith in Jesus – Matthew 10:32

• Be immersed in water – Acts 22:16

– Sins are forgiven – Acts 2:38

– Added to His church – Acts 2:47

– Registered in heaven – Hebrews 12:23

• Selflessly & faithfully obey Him – Phil. 2:3-13
