LUKE 6: 36

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful

When read this verse, what would we think is that we should give something to other who not

prosperous yet. But the question is how if we didnt have enough to give? Or Are we have to do that

every day? Lets see what Jesus actually want us to do.

In the Indonesian version of Luke 6: 36 merciful translate as murah hati or in English generous or

charitable. But in NIV bible version Luke 6: 36 said Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful . Merciful

in English does not only means generous , or charitable. According to Cambridge English dictionary

merciful means bringing someone relief from something unpleasant or it can be conclude that merciful

also means profitable and favorable.

So when Jesus Said Be merciful it does not mean that He want us to be generous to others or do

charity things every day. Let us simplify our mind. Being Merciful not only about want to give

something to others but also to be profitable and favorable to others. Jesus want us to be someonewho can bring relief to other from something unpleasant.

Right now let us reflect ourselves . Have we been profitable and favorable to other around us all this

time? Have we able to bring someone relief from something unpleasant?

For a simple example in social media, when I or You update your status and its contain with anger, curse

or something bad, do you thing that will be profitable or favorable to other? Or if vice versa if our status

contain a good thing, informative and inspirative one, it would be profitable and favorable to others

who read. Just that simple action then we have been done merciful thing. Another example is the way

we talk, the way we walk, the way we clothing and even by a simple smile every day to other around us,

it is also merciful.

Then after we realize what is being merciful, why we have to? Let us read once more this verse Be

merciful JUST AS YOUR FATHER IS MERCIFUL being merciful is not because we want to, but because

our Father also merciful to us. Gods Providence to us, God give us life, even He let us to gather here

right now is an example of how merciful our God is. And the most merciful thing that our lord do is give

His Only son to save us from our sins. So if our supreme God is merciful to us His weak creature why we

dont do the same thing?

We are Gods children, we are do the same thing with Him as His child. So Jesus want us to merciful just

as our heavenly father do. If we merciful in our life so other people will see our life and or Gods namewill be Glory on the earth. So people will know or God by our Life. So not for our name not for our

image but only for our God.
