It is with great pleasure that I to recommend David Lueck for a position atyour institution.I have known David professionally for over 6 years. We started our teaching careerstogether at the Pike Freshman Center where I was the Newcomers and EL Teacheruntil my recent promotion. David immediately impressed me with his dedication toteaching, his students, and his colleagues. He is goal oriented, uses effectivestrategies, and is a good source for other teachers when they have questions.

I like to come in early to work but David always arrived ahead of me andwould stay late. He is well prepared and wants to be available in case students stopby with questions. My EL students always felt comfortable enough to come to him ifthey did not understand the material.

He sets high standards and expectations but at the same time provides thestudents with the tools and skills necessary to reach those expectations.He really impressed me as he made sure to modify and adapt his instruction to theneeds of newly arrived EL students or of students who might have been in the USAfor a while but still needed that extra help.

David is a team player. We often collaborated on adapting tests andassignments, not just for El students, but also for students who were perhaps at adifferent competency level. David firmly believes everyone can learn and succeed.

David is a well-traveled educator and in today's global economy, his manyexperiences he brings into the classroom, are of great value to the students and theschool. For David, education is much more than just teaching the required mathcourse. He uses a holistic approach and has the ability to connect his lessons to theworld we live in and build on the background knowledge of the students and thusconnect with them.
