Jan 2009 to Aug 2010.Cert Kraft Systems, Poles, Cavan.

Started with Cert Kraft Systems and immediately took on the role as site projects manager for thecompany and interacted between Cuisine de France and leased with site contractors as project progressedand fed back all information to cert Kraft companies director on a day to day basis whether it was verbalor by email or by SMS texts via mobile phones. The project was the biggest that I had under taken andthe most interesting work experienced to date being the largest cold store room in Europe. Providedtechnical help and assistance to new employees, and leased with contractors and commissioned the -40degree Celsius side of the plant. Assured that all pipe work and cables were in accordance to codes ofpractice at cuisine de France and IAWS. Commissioned all automated equipment on plant on refrigerationpart of the plant.Clarified and verified that all high voltage cabling, motor windings were merged and balanced. Merged allrunning cables from primary isolators of the main transformers feeding the plant to the secondaryisolator’s room where start up/stop panels to main compressors, Condensers and extractor fans.

This position becameavailable to me as a contractor with Brian Kearney, Associated Electrics, who has been my employerduring this time.Yamanouchi Ireland is part of a multi-national corporation involved in the manufacture of antacids anddrugs for the treatment of certain cancers. The pharmaceutical industry has stringent rules andregulations that must be adhered to and the responsibility of the Senior Instrumentation Engineer is not tobe taken lightly. On a daily basis, I was solely responsible for the continued function of all 5 processingplants on the facility.

My duties include: The set-up and calibration of temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, differential, PH, valves both

July 1998 - February 1999Sub-Contractor, Grafton RecruitmentOn arriving in Ireland in 1998, I immediately secured a position with Grafton Recruitment as part of theircrew of contractors. While the calibration of specialized equipment is my area of expertise, I also workedas a contractor to Electrical companies where my duties included the following:

Wiring of distribution networking panels, Running CAT 45 cable, Patching of Mainframes, Splicingfibre optic cables, Fault Finding and Modifications, Updating of schematics

As a senior electrician I was also responsible for the operational side of the business. I had to ensure thatall projects were implemented correctly and efficiently and that they were completed on time. I wasresponsible for ordering any equipment or hiring of additional staff if necessary. I was also responsible forthe time keeping and safety of my colleagues, ensuring that all site rules were adhered to, in an effort tominimize any danger on site. Some of the companies I worked at: Xerox, 3com, Intel, Shell and a varietyof company start-ups.

Jan 1994 – May 1998 African Commerce, Johannesburg, South AfricaField Service Technician

Responsibilities included:

Repairing maintaining packaging equipment, both fully and semi automatic on production lines withconveyor systems in sync and liked into PLC’s.

As most of the company’s serviced produced product that was highly flammable, the equipmentwas required by law to be pneumatic while in production with Dangerous Flammable liquids

Creating and maintaining good customer relations Commissioning and modifications Programming Installations Faulting Finding Aligning Mechanical

Extensive training on the following equipment:

Signode, Rigomat, Strapex, Strapack, and cling film wrapping machines, which are all fully automatedsystems with pneumatic presses. Additionally, steel strappers are used to strap end compact Bails oftobacco, Hay, straw, Clothing….

Due to regulatory requirements when dealing with extremely dangerous equipment, safety wasa number one issue which had to be addressed and upheld at all times. Safety training wasregularly provided and compliance certifications issued. This learning has followed me throughmy entire career to date.

1989 -Dec 1994Ramsey Engineering, Johannesburg, South Africa

Employed as a Field/in-house Service Technician, where my responsibilities included:

Repairing of microprocessor-based equipment - electronic boards, interface boards,motherboards, power supplies, relay boards down to component level, using circuit diagrams.

To ensure that all Field Technicians were fully equipped with completely operational parts whichhad been fully tested and running for a period of no less than 48 hours.

Installation and commissioning of high-speed belt weighing scales, Icore check weighers, metaldetectors , installation of food industry conveyors, in the mining and food industries

Responsibilities included:

Wiring up of PLC controlled panels. Installation of Weigh beds/high speed scales. (Weighbridge systems)

Repairing, re-calibrating and re-programming of radioactive metallurgic analyzer handling ofisotopes radiation sources with CD109 and FE 55.Documented and handled in a proper manner of companies and radiation sources up to 5Becquerel’s and storage.Calibrating metallurgic analyzers which required isotope changes and at any given time andhandling of these isotopes had to be treated with the highest safety procedures and handledisotopes with the stringiest professional company protocol at all times when dealing with highlydangerous equipment.

Calibration and commissioning of Icore check weighers, metal detectors which were used on aproduction line in the food industry. Responsible for Burning and copying and handling of thesoftware e-proms and ee-roms side of the company for instruments used on our productionline, Mostly Texas nuclear instruments.

Development and training of procedures relating to the above mentioned analyzers. Standardoperating procedures.Repair electronic cards to component level, power supply cards, relays cards,mother cards, I/O cards.Repair of micro-processor based equipment and calibrating and balancing of scales on aproduction line from a single load cell scale to a four load cell scale. Scales were used on a highspeed conveyor belt system for accurate measurement, installation and commission of VSD’S

Hobbies and Interests

I have been a keen sportsman all my life and have played both soccer and rugby for the South AfricanMarines. I have also won several shooting competitions during my time in the Marines and continue toplay squash, although no longer competitively.

I have a great love of music and movies and spend a lot of time at the PC editing home movies. I amfascinated with computer graphics and my goal is to one day get involved with the design/programming ofsuch graphics.

In the meantime, though, I have plenty to keep me occupied with the restoration of my 1946 AmericanArmy Willis Jeep.
