Partnership: T-E members coordinating Local Coalitions in 10 countries (Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain)

GC4DJ themes: all five, with emphasis on 1, 3, 4

Aim: pan-European strategy to activate Local Coalitions for Digital Jobs led by T-E members (T-E answer to GC4DJ)

Status: •Kick-off meeting with LC coordinators held at DAA in Dublin

•LC coordinators selected, LC profiles and action plans drafted

•Funds (MS grant) secured for coordination activities during 1st year

•Ongoing harmonization of transversal activities and resources identification

•Starting to explore how to help other pledgers (MS, Oracle, etc) going local

Partnership: Microsoft Hellas and PEOPLECERT PLUS the American College of Greece, ALBA Graduate Business School and 13 more stakeholders.

GC4DJ themes: 1, 3, 4, 5

Aim: to build a LC4DJ around Microsoft Spark’s Getbusy.gr initiative

3-year objectives: •Recruit more stakeholders, sponsors and initiating partnerships

•Capitalize European Commission funding programmes in order to trigger more actions at national level for the benefit of youth

IRELAND – Local Coalition for Digital JobsCoordinator: Fast Track to IT (FIT) | [email protected]

Partnership: Local ICT employers (Microsoft etc..), Local government training service FAS.

GC4DJ themes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Aim: to lead the establishment of a Local Coalition for Digital Jobs

3-year objectives: •Establish members (~20) and strong recognition of LC4DJ

•Establish and secure EC/local government funding

•Build GC4DJ themes into all programmes

•Major focus on gender balance and job placement

•Research innovative ideas to create jobs e.g. SME support system

ITALY - Multisectoral Network on Educational Robotics

Coordinator: Fondazione Mondo Digitale | [email protected]

Partnership: schools, universities, companies, foundations, associations and regional and national authorities (MoU signed between 62 organisations)

GC4DJ themes: 1, 4, 5

Aim: long-term national strategy to promote Educational Robotics

3-year objectives: •Upscale and enlarge the Italian LC4DJ

•Raise interest and facilitate learning of scientific subjects through ER school training activities such as the annual “RomeCup” event

•Promote innovative learning and teaching, digital jobs and careers through the diffusion of ER inside the National school systems; embed ER in school curriculum.

•Promote cross-cutting cooperation activities with other related networks for digital jobs targeted to young people (such as the Makers Movement, Fairs).

LATVIA - National e-Skills Partnership

Coordinator: Latvian ICT Association (LIKTA) | [email protected]

Partnership: 4 Ministries, 220 ICT companies represented by LIKTA, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (over 1,000 members), Latvian Open Technology Association, Latvian Internet Association (MoU signed)

GC4DJ themes: 1, 3, 4, 5

Aim: long-term national strategy and coalition to promote e-skills for digital jobs

3-year objectives: •Increase involvement of young people in ICT careers (e.g. “ICT for my Future”)

•Provide national schemes and support instruments for ICT training for the labor market needs (e.g. ICT trainings for small and micro enterprises, implementation of nationwide ICT related LLL programs and certifications)

•Modern and interactive learning process

•General awareness raising about importance of digital literacy and ICT skills

LITHUANIA – Local Coalition for Digital JobsCoordinator: Association “Langas į ateitį” | [email protected]

Partnership: 3 Ministries, several associations (IT companies, IT teachers, distance learning, public libraries, computer society and ECDL), Universities of Vilnius and Kaunas (MoU to be signed on 7 Nov during ICT 2013)

GC4DJ themes: 1, 4, 5

Aim: long-term national strategy and coalition to promote e-skills for digital jobs

3-year objectives: •Increase involvement of young people in ICT labour market by developing their digital skills (e.g. open online courses)

•General awareness raising about importance of digital literacy and ICT skills (e.g. through ICT2013, IT for your tomorrow, Girls in ICT day, IT solutions contest BEBRAS, First LEGO League on robotics, ICT Professionals ’Day)

•Encourage and train society to develop ICT skills for job through lifelong innovative learning approach (e.g. open online courses, Robotics Academy)

POLAND - Broad Agreement for Digital Competencies Liaison: Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI) | [email protected] - [email protected]

Partnership: National multi-stakeholder coalition led by Polish Digital Champion (MoU signed)

GC4DJ themes: 1, 4, 5

Aim: to promote universal digital education, efficient usage of ICT as well as acceptance of changes caused by ICT development

7-year objectives: “To inspire, support, promote, initiate and undertake activities aimed at a universal, lifelong digital education to become a national development priority; building awareness and acceptance of changes caused by ICT development; active participation in economic, social and cultural development thanks to the use of ICT”.

PORTUGAL – National Coalition for Digital JobsLiaison: Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) | [email protected]

Aim: to build a National Coalition aligned with Portugal Digital Agenda, and taking into account the European GC4DL guidelines

ROMANIA - Digital Alliance for Romania: National Coalition for IT Employment

Partnership: 2 Ministries, 7 IT corporations, 10 civil society orgs. (MoU signed)

GC4DJ themes: 3, 4, 5

Aim: improvement of the employability of youth and adults in IT jobs until 2020

3-year objectives: •Advocate and support the government, the industry sector and the civil society to understand the skills gap and work together to make it visible to all parties, but also to realize the huge potential of the IT sector for provision of job opportunities

•Improve the take-up of industry IT certification by the academic sector and preparing youth with the right IT skills set as required by today’s employers

•Include industry developed training and teacher development programs along the mainframe academic curriculum.

Helping the other pledges going to go localTelecentre-Europe’s Local Coalitions for Digital Jobs:

•Multistakeholder partnerships (MSP) that enable the goals of the GC4DJ to drill down into countries, local communities and people

•Alignment to the overall goals of the GC4DJ ensure greater collective impact and more consistent and measurable outcomes

Offer to GC4DJ pledgers:

•All pledgers are invited (e.g. from ICT industry) to join the LCs of their interest, as a formal partner, a “content provider” or a sponsor

•Pledgers can embed their activities into LCs plans and/or join activities already planned and/or propose new joint activities

•ICT industry pledgers (e.g. CSR depts.) can contribute to sustain LCs with cash or in-kind donations
