Locaid Geofence Defined
The Locaid Geofence is a virtual perimeter that you create for any real-world geographic area. Locaid creates a dynamic area in any shape or size, such as a radius around a retail store or ATM machine. These predefined boundaries can vary by number, shape, size and trigger. Typical geofences include proximities to retail shops, school attendance zones or state boundaries.
How Locaid Geofence Works
Once a Locaid Geofence is created, when a mobile device or wireless subscriber is registered via the Locaid gateway for a location-based service (LBS) and enters or exits the location perimeter, a notification activates. This alert could be in the form of an SMS message to the subscriber or an alert to another server or user to take action.
Geofence Use Cases
Locaid Geofencing is used in many industries: fraud management, proximity marketing, fleet and workforce management, child location services, M2M and telematics, and many more.
Agencies
Advertising agencies can improve their client’s message integration across all marketing channels. Leading agencies are beginning to integrate mobile location across digital touch-points. The CPG industry is increasingly able to build stronger direct consumer relationships through the use of proximity marketing.
Events
Whether it is a major sporting event, concert, conference or a trade show, a client can advertise or deliver media content, such as maps or videos, at or near the event location.
Retail
Retailers can create locally aware offers to drive traffic in malls and stores. Through the use of location- targeted messaging, retailers are able to offer different calls to action that are more relevant and valuable to their customers. Locaid has streamlined the network location process by providing a single place for cross-carrier location, privacy tools, and data, including POI and geofencing.
Locaid Geofence™Mobile location from Locaid® helps businesses derive insight and create actionable events when combined with Locaid Geofence. Locaid Geofence works with any Locaid network location service to build virtual perimeters around any location: retail stores, arenas, airports, schools, homes, in any shape or size. Location data can then be evaluated in context of a physical world map, all within the Locaid location service.

Locaid Geofence Process
Geofencing involves setting a digital perimeter around a given location, such as a retail store or restaurant, and then SMS messages can be dispatched to users entering that perimeter.
Geofencing in five easy steps
1. Locaid API provides the location of any wireless device
2. Draw perimeter – any size or shape (circle/polygon/free form)
3. Input rules to determine if device is IN or OUT (single or multiple geofence areas)
4. Send location-based SMS message accordingly5. Summarize and analyze in Geofence reports
