The “It Speaks to Me” exhibition at the Carnegie Art Museum showcases the Critiquing Circle of Nurit Avesar, Elana Kundell, Bobbie Moline-Kramer, Sigrid Orlet and Ryan Wurmser. Their show will run through Aug. 21. The exhibit highlights the significance and influence of the art critique on the development of the contemporary paintings and mixed media art by these artists. Kundell’s piece, “Continue,” oil and charcoal on panel, is shown here. A Free Family Day will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can explore the museum’s galleries and participate in art projects together. Create an action painting inspired by the “It Speaks to Me” exhibit and take part in making a huge collaborative abstract painting. An Artists’ Gallery Talk will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. Reservations are appreciated. Admission is $5 (free for museum members). “Zuma Foam,” a collaboration of photographs by Douglas Busch and poems by Florence Weinberger, is also at the museum through Aug. 21. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays (closed holidays) at 424 South C St., Oxnard. Suggested donation is $4.
