Teacher Directions for Unit 1 Individual Assessment

The following activities reflect learning across the unit. Please include any other tasks that require additional assessment, ex. Filling a out personal information form, reading a school map, etc.

1. Listening to Sentences In this section, students will label the pictures that correspond to the sentences that are read to them. Below are the sentences that align with these pictures. Keep in mind that these sentences follow the order of the pictures in the student handout, so be sure to randomize the sentences as you read. Read the following sentences aloud, and instruct students to write the matching number in the boxes provided. 1- The teacher is talking to students. 2- The students are opening the books. 3- The girls are reading a map. 4- The books are on the desk. 5- The schedule is in the binder. 6- The student is working in math class. 7- The boy is writing his name in the notebook. 8- The girl is writing an address on an envelope.

1. Listening to Words

In this section the students will listen for the initial consonant sound of each key word. Students write ONLY the first letter, not the whole word. Make sure that your alphabet chart in the room is covered.

2. Speaking

In this section, the students will describe the actions taking place in the picture in their booklet. Transcribe what the student says in response to the picture. You can ask questions to prompt speaking.

3. Reading Comprehension In this section, the students will read the sentences provided and then match each sentence to the correct picture. Students will then answer questions about Mario’s schedule.

4. Oral Reading In this section, the students will read lists of words aloud. Listen to the words as and check those the student reads correctly. For the letters-sounds, the student only needs to make the sound of each consonant.

5. Writing In this section, the students will write sentences that describe the actions happening in each picture. They will be allowed to use the word bank for assistance. Ensure that students are able to find appropriate vocabulary to complete the task.
