Goals of this presentation

Keeping students interested and excited in their World Languages class

Walk away with activities that you will be able to use on Monday

Design your own thematic unit that promotes all three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational

Gives students the freedom to improvise when necessary

Steps: Put students into pairs

Before giving them a copy of the guided conversation, choose a student A and student B

Give them their guided conversation and the freedom to use the language to the best of their ability

Switch partners and roles multiple times! The conversation will always be different

his/her day is going Respond and tell your

friend what you did on the weekend

Respond to the question and ask about plans for the upcoming weekend.

Politely reject the invitation and suggest an alternative

React and finish the conversation

React positively and ask a follow-up question

Respond to the question and invite your friend to dinner tonight

Students get into a group of three. Each group is givenone of the following categories: music, concerts, competitions.

Create a vocabulary list of everything you can think of that pertains to that topic.

When finished, the class will create three groups: music, concerts, competitions

Together, compare your vocabulary and create a master list that will become our vocabulary for this unit.

Give me the final copy and get ready to teach the classyour vocabulary

Many photos of the artist

You may not have words in your presentation slides . You can have the name of the artist and headers (awards, history, etc.). You should select pictures to help guide your presentation.
