While they’re fresh
• The Morrison McCall Spelling Scale• 8 separate tests • Helps examine trends not single data points• Gives a grade expectancy• Aligns with the Spalding scope and sequence• Additional information re transcription
-
If spelling is below expectancy
• The Test of Orthographic Choice (TOC)• Measures knowledge of the English writing
system• What is more likely?• Not a reading test• Results help predict response to spelling

Single word reading

The Castles and Coltheart Test 2
• “The test has been normed on over 1000 Australian children aged from 6 years 0 months to 11 years 6 months. The online version of the test calculates a separate accuracy score for each item type and converts this to a "z score" for the child's age based on the normative data.”

Motif also provides
letter/sound assessment
• The Letter-Sound Test (LeST)• For K-3• Single letters and letter combinations• Gives a printout to help keep everyone working
on the same thing• Great for progress monitoring
-
Listening comprehension
• Short passage 2 years below grade level.• Recall facts, draw conclusions, make inferences,
summarise.• Not a standardized test, just a screener.
-
Phonological awareness
• The David Kilpatrick PAST• Equipped for Reading Success
-
