MISSION NEWS MISSION NEWSMany of you will remember Cloyd Christman.He served as the very first Director of thismission - following GBM founders Walter &Mainie Coble’s retirement. He was committedto God's work both at home and around theworld through the use of audio and visualmedia. His family name said a great dealabout him. He was a “Christ-man" in every sense and will bemissed by all who knew and loved him. His family shared thisinformation about his death:

“Cloyd Graham Christman Jr. (age 89) – Entered his heavenlyhome, July 31, 2018 in Spokane, WA. Born in San Fernando,CA. to Cloyd Graham Christman, Sr. and Gladys (Pilgrim)Christman, he was one of six sons. He found his Lord and Saviorand spread the Gospel his entire life. Cloyd and his dear wife,Helen, raised two daughters, Kay and Kathy teaching them tolove the Lord. They worked as missionaries to Okinawa andministered with congregations and in various ways – spread the“good news” of the Bible. He loved photography, fishing, andwood-working, and is survived by his wife, Helen at home;daughters, Kay Christman and Kathy Titus, also at home; abrother, Dick Martin; and two sisters-in-law, Connie Martin andMarilyn Kent; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeralservice were held Thursday, August 9, in Spokane, WA.”

The family suggested friends might want to consider a memorialcontribution in Cloyd’s memory to either Gospel BroadcastingMission, Box 51, Onalaska, WI. 54650, or to Good NewsProductions International, Box 222, Joplin, MO. 64802.

Introducing: AH Tsi Y-ku LaymayOne of our long-time Lisu radio speakersand program producer and his family paid arecent visit to our GBM office, AH Tsi Y-kuLaymay (we know him as James Laymay).We met years ago when he was a memberof our radio studio team in Thailand. Heand his family now live in St. Paul, MN.Along with S.E. Asian Christian friends there, he is interested instarting a new radio broadcast to the Laymay Tribe. Also knownas the Pai Zho or Pa Ne Zho. We believe they are considered anun-reached tribe which numbers over a million people.

Q: James, you worked in the studio for over 20 years. What didyou in those years and do you believe it was effective?A: I recorded sermons for daily radio programs in Lisu, Wa andNgochang languages. Yes, I believe it is a very effective way totake the gospel to remote villages and mountain tribes. Wevisited listeners - they said it’s a good way to bring the gospel totheir people. The people work hard in the jungles and fields inthe day and listen at night with their families. (over)

BAPTIZING IN A MUDDY STREAMMyanamr Evangelist,Manesseh Fish, andhis son Aaron baptizesome young believerswhose parents areancestor worshippers.Aaron and his motherRuth, produce ourdaily PaOh radiobroadcast in Burma.

Three of these childrenare PaOh. Some parentsare strong Buddhists. OnSundays they recite Bibleverses and praise Godwith other children. Wepray one day they willhelp reach their familiesfor Christ.

Q: James, were you able to take listening devices tosome of the remote villages?A: Yes, We take shortwave radios so they can listen tothe broadcasts. They said it was helpful for spiritualgrowth and understanding of the Bible. It also helpsthem prepare sermons and lessons for their people. Itreaches people in Thailand, China, Burma and India.Q: Many of our GBM friends have helped in purchasingradios - who else has helped?A: FEBC (Far East Broadcasting Company) has beena big help in supplying these also.Q: You spoke of the need for another broadcast?A: Yes, some of my friends in China contacted me totalk with you about a new program - they believe itwould reach many people. They also need Bibles andhymn books. They have no pastor or buildings andsome people told us they use radio programs for theirworship service in the night time after working.Q: James, thank you for sharing with us.
