District Governors Message

May is upon us and the sun has finally showed itself. Time to get outside and enjoy the day. But it also

means that it time for me to go through all the pieces of paper, letters, emails, notes and reports that

have accumulated and throw away the unneeded paper work.

With the District convention over, I have to thank the convention committee and everyone that

helped make it such a huge success. We had a very large crowd that really enjoyed the seminars and had

a chance to meet other members from the various clubs in District 14-L. No matter how hard you try to

keep the day moving along, it always turns out to be a long day. The highlights of the day were the semi-

nars and the keynote speaker, PID Joe Giffigan. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening meal. It was a

very good convention and took a lot of work by a lot of people, Again, thank you.

This month, on Saturday, May 5, we will be holding the 2nd annual Melvin Jones Fellows dinner

and recognize all Melvin Jones Fellows recipients. The speaker for the evening will be our Pennsylvania

Lions State Administrator, Lion Bob McComas. The dinner will be held at Stone Creek Valley Lions Club.

On Sunday, May 6, we will be holding our fourth District 14-L Cabinet meeting. It will be held at

the Stone Creek Valley Lions Club. The meeting will begin at 2:00pm followed by a meal. The cost is

$10.00 for non-cabinet members. If you can make it, I would encourage you to attend

We are also making plans for the State Council Convention to take place in State College on May

17 to May 20. Please look for the state convention information elsewhere in this newsletter. I am looking

forward to seeing all of you at State conventions.

As always, thank you for your thoughts and prayers not just for myself and my family but for all of

our leaders. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can help you with.

Yours in Lionism,

Jim Foreso

Message from 1st Vice District Governor

Leanna Calhoun

This month has past by so fast and I still have much to do to get ready for my term as Governor. As Governor Elect I want to thank all of you that have helped me over the past several months to get my pins and bank made. With help of many, the directory is coming along. I am sorry that I wasn't able to be at all of the District Convention. The Lions that were there told me the seminars were wonderful. The Changing of the Banner will be held at the Cove Club on July 22,2018 at 3:30. Each club will be given a special invitation to come. So please mark your calendars. This is going to be a fun evening. I am looking forward to be at the State Convention on the 17th of May. This will be a great learn-ing experience and to get to know the other Governor Elects in Pennsylvania. I hope all of the clubs are working hard to get more members in their clubs. Remember the more hands we have the more we can do to help others. This is a quote from Albert Schweitzer: The only people who will be really happy are those who have sought and found a way to serve others. Success can be measured not only in achievements, but in lessons learned, lives touched and mo-ments shared along the way. As Lions, Lioness and Leos, keep serving. Yours in Lionism, Governor Elect, Leanna Calhou

Don’t Miss this Legendary Entertainer

Michael J Facciani

In 1980, what seemed to be an unbelievable story began to unfold. After enjoying the voice of a singer in his church, Michael said a simple prayer. “Lord, if you give me a voice, I will sing for you.” Over the course of sev-eral short months, something happened. A rich baritone voice began to develop with no previous vocal train-ing. The last time he had sung was in the second grade “glee club.” After learning what a vibrato was, he again said a simple prayer. “Lord, I think I need one of those.” The very next morning, a professional vibrato was evident. Michael subsequently took six vocal lessons from an opera teacher to better understand his voice. At only 5 feet 6 inches tall and 170 pounds, the most common remark has been, “How does a voice like that come out of a little body like yours?” Over the years, his voice has been compared many times, for those who remember, to the late Robert Goulet. Michael has been encouraged to keep sharing the miracle of receiving his voice through a simple prayer. He has completed 7 music projects and recently began a mainstream musical production called; Turn Back The Hands Of Time, which he performs in theaters and performing arts venues across the country. Infor-mation on this production can be found at TurnBackTheHands.com
