The video on the hyperlink below is designed to show you how to enable the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ link in your course within Learn: https://media.ed.ac.uk/media/Course+Enhancement+Questionnaires+Video/0_ny2njro7 Depending upon which School you are in, you will see the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ link:

In the navigation menu within your course on the left-hand side

Underneath a section called, for example, ‘Have Your Say’

No link anywhere yet If you do have a course menu set up, there are two places where you will need to enable the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ link.

1) In the navigation menu on left-hand side, click on ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’. This will open the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ section. You will see here that the item is hidden from students.

Click on the dropdown at the side of ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’.

Use the option ‘Make Available’.

You will see that the sentence ‘Item is hidden from students.’ has disappeared, the link at course content level is now available to students. However, because the link is hidden in two places, at the navigation menu level and at the course content level, you need to make it available in the navigation menu as well.

2) In the navigation menu on the left-hand side, click on the dropdown beside ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’. Choose the option ‘Show Link’.

Now both sections appear to students. You can confirm this yourself by clicking the ‘Enter Student Preview’ and if you have enabled the links for students, you will see them in both places. Remember that similarly to other LTI links, it won’t work exactly the way that it will for students when you are in as ‘student preview’ and that’s just because everything is based on the email address attached to the account and so your email address will not necessarily be against any ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’.

If you do not have the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ in the navigation menu on left-hand side, you might find that this is in another section, for example in ‘Have Your Say’. Again, the link will be hidden to students with ‘Item is hidden from students.’ displayed. Click on the dropdown at the side of ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ and choose the option ‘Make Available’.

If your template or course in Learn does not contain any references to ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’, you will need to find the tool and add it. This is the same as building any tool within Learn. Find the area where you want to add the link. Click on the dropdown which you want to add it from, in this case the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires’ link is always under the ‘Tools’ section. Click on ‘Link to Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’.

You can name the link as you like, however, we recommend the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’ naming convention purely because students see it referred as this in other courses but also in any communication from the Student Analytics and Insights team.

Make sure ‘Permit Users to View this Content’ is set to ‘Yes’, it defaults to ‘Yes’ but it is always worth double checking. Click ‘Submit’.

The ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’ link will now be visible. It is also worthwhile considering adding a line of text explaining what the link actually is to make it clear to people.

When clicking on the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’ link, the Course Organiser Dashboard will open.

The Course Organiser Dashboard displays information for any CEQs that have been scheduled to launch for the Course Organiser’s courses:

Course Title and Course Code

Scheduled Open date and time

Scheduled Close date and time

Number of students invited to the CEQ

Response Rate for the CEQ

The student cohort will only be able to see the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’ link in Learn if this has been enabled as described above. When students click on the ‘Course Enhancement Questionnaires (CEQs)’ link, the Student Dashboard will open.

The Student Dashboard displays information for any CEQs that have been sent to the student:

Course Title and Course Code

Course Organiser name

Number of days left before the CEQ closes

Scheduled Close date and time

Link to the CEQ

To encourage CEQs completion, Course Organisers or Course Secretaries can email the student cohort for the course by using ‘Announcements’ in Learn or via their preferred method to contact students. CEQs are closed automatically. If response rates are low and the deadline should be extended, administration staff in Schools would need to email the Student Analytics and Insights team at [email protected] at least 3 days before the close date. The Student Analytics and Insights team builds CEQs and schedules opening and closing dates according to the information that administration staff in the School enters in the EUCLID screen for Course Enhancement. For any queries on open and close dates displayed against CEQs in Learn or if a course that should have a CEQ scheduled to launch is not displayed, Course Organisers should contact the School’s administrative staff in the first instance. For any queries and support about Learn, staff in Schools should contact IS Helpline at [email protected] or their School Learning Technologists where appropriate.
