Referring to the previous page. The cabinet on the left shows a line card module “in gray”. This part of the fixture I did not design. I was asked to mount them inside a cabinet of my design and create an articulating armature with an IPAS connector assembly. The first pass of the design had issues with torsional slippage. In the redesign the torsional slippage was completely removed by the following..

1. Pivot segments were redesigned to eliminate torsional slippage. 2. Pivot joints were redesigned to use Phosphor Bronze Bushings instead of

Glass Filled Nylon. The Nylon worked great for a while but then due to compression and working they would allow the armature to sag a little more with every use.

3. Assembly Rotation was accommodated by increasing the mounting slot length to allow about +/- 3 degress of rotation in the armature up and down.

One of the issues we had to overcome was maintaining vertical positioning. This was achieved by creating a hand actuated axial spring clamp to fix the position of the articulating armature.
