NOTES FROM THE PRIDE October 18, 2017
PAW PRIDE WINNERS WEEK #6
“PAWS”ITIVE AWARDS
Congratulations to Mrs. Gerloff's and Miss Bichler’s classes for being the PAWSitive Award winners in the month of September. Not only
did these classes earn a Staff vs. Student kickball game, they also have the "PAWSitively PAWsome" signs hanging outside of their rooms
for the whole school to see! Great job, and keep up the great work!
READING CALENDAR UPDATE Our Lincoln Lions have had a marvelous
beginning to the school year with their reading calendars! The whole
school read a total of 5,510 days during the month of September, which is
an outstanding start! Congratulations to Miss Nett's classroom for leading
the school with an average of 25.6 days read per student! Mrs. Gall's class
had the second highest average with 22.8 days read per student! The
more they read, the more raffle tickets classes will receive for the chance
to win ice cream parties, prizes, and other fun incentives! Thank you for
encouraging your children to keep reading, and please remind them to
turn in their October reading calendar to their classroom teacher
by Monday, November 6th.
October Lunch Menu Click on the link above to see the menu. Lincoln and TJMS will
have the same hot lunch menu this year. When looking at the
menu, the underlined items will be the only main entree served at
Lincoln on those particular days.
Please be sure to pack a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. An extra shirt, pair of sweatpants, and pair of socks are very helpful in
case of run-ins with puddles at recess or milk spills at lunch. We have a very limited supply of items to loan, and when we run out, we will need to phone a parent to get dry clothing.
BOOK FAIR, OPEN-HOUSE, SILENT AUCTION AND YELLOWBELLIES
all in one night!
Thursday, November 2nd, 5:30pm-7:00pm
This exciting evening is getting closer! Come to the Open House, check out the Book
Fair, eat at YellowBellies and stay for the Silent Auction. There are many great items
this year, including Teacher Experiences and Classroom Artwork that the students will
be creating in the next week. You will not want to miss it! And don't forget that
YellowBellies food truck will be in the south parking lot serving dinner. Thank you to
YellowBellies (one of our Lincoln families) who will be donating 10% of their sales for
the evening back to PALS.
Also, thank you to the families who have already contributed to the Silent Auction!
Do you have a side business or a talent you would like to share at the Silent Auction?
Please contact our Silent Auction Co-Chairs to share your idea -- Jennifer
Dimmer, [email protected], or Jennifer Schowalter, [email protected].

Miss Pride
Hello Lincoln Families!
It is hard to believe that October is here! I don’t know
about you, but I am ready for some pumpkin picking, leaf
piles, and sweater weather!
It has been so wonderful getting to know all of the students here
at Lincoln in my guidance classes. They have really impressed me with
their kindness, respectful behavior, and excitement for
learning!
This month, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
For more than 20 years, Red Ribbon Week has
been a time to encourage healthy lifestyles and teach
students about the dangers of drugs. It has grown to be the nation’s
largest anti-drug endeavor. At the elementary level, the focus is
primarily on making positive lifestyle choices, including eating healthful
foods, reading, attending school, exercising, and so forth. We also
address issues such as drugs, alcohol, and smoking, especially with
students in the upper elementary grades.
Red Ribbon week is celebrated nationally, from October 23rd - 27th and in an effort to promote its message and encourage our very own
Lincoln Lions to take on a positive, healthy, and respectful lifestyle, we
have organized a special event for each day of Red Ribbon Week. Please
encourage and help your child(ren) to participate every day!
Please see the back of this sheet for each day’s event! Each day, we will count how many students participated in each class
and the winning class will receive a special prize!
The students always seem to enjoy this week and I certainly hope
this year is no exception. Thank you in advance for helping your child
understand the importance of positive and healthy choices and providing
him/her with the opportunity to participate in our elementary Red Ribbon
activities. I can’t wait to see the participation!
Sincerely,
Monday
