Muntinlupa Teachers Trained on Environmental Education PTC-CSJ Foundation and WWF-Philippines have entered into a partnership project on environmental education (EE) that aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of school administrators and faculty on climate change, biodiversity conservation, energy and sustainable lifestyle.

The EE Project’s beneficiaries are the Foundation’s three partner-Schools in Muntinlupa: Bayanan Elementary School-Main (BESM), Lakeview Elementary School (LES) and Sucat Elementary School-Main (SESM). The project involves two activities: a one-day training for teachers and a half-day demo teaching session per school. A total of 125 teachers participated in the training conducted by WWF on June 2, 2016. The activity employed various training methodologies such as lectures, games, video presentations and group workshops.

At the end of the training, WWF distributed manuals and other teaching aids focused on the environment which the teachers could use in their classroom instruction and other activities. Subsequently, a demo teaching was conducted by five teachers per school on August 24-25. WWF and PTC-CSJ’s Executive Director, Ms. Flory A. Tabio, observed the demo sessions together with Science Heads/Coordinators and Master Teachers from other Muntinlupa public elementary schools. The DepEd-Muntinlupa Schools Division Office, upon learning of the demo teaching sessions, decided to adopt it as a division-wide activity, thus the participation of other schools as observers.

In general, the demo teachers were able to effectively integrate environmental concepts in their respective subjects in Math, English, Pilipino, and Science, among others.WWF is the world’s largest and most experienced conservation organization operating in over 100 countries.
