Lesson Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:i. Produce and display kites in pairs based on the worksheet with instruction on how to make a kiteii. Sing and enjoy the song by singing the song “Let’s go fly a kite” together with actions.

Activity Teaching & Learning Strategy NotesSet induction (5 minutes) (8.00 a.m. – 8.05 a.m.)
Assembling Picture Puzzle
1. Teacher divides the pupils into 7 groups with each group consisting of 3 or 4 pupils.
2. In each group, teacher gives them a set of picture puzzle (Appendix A) on the different types of kites.
3. In groups of five, pupils assemble the picture puzzle.
4. Every picture puzzle is different.
5. The fastest group to assemble the picture puzzle emerges as the winner.
6. Teacher shows the assembled kites on a PowerPoint slides (Appendix B) together with the names of the kites.
7. Teacher links this to what pupils are going to learn for the day.

1. Teacher shows a picture of a kite on the PowerPoint slide.
2. Teacher elicits answer from pupils pertaining to kites.
3. Pupils answer it orally.

Teaching aid: i) Youtube video “Let’s fly a kite” (1:51 minutes)
1. Teacher shows a short video of a song entitled ‘Let’s go fly a kite’
2. Pupils watch and listen carefully to the song.
3. Teacher divides the pupils into 8 groups with each group consisting of 3 or 4 pupils.
4. Teacher demonstrates the action for the song.
5. Pupils sing the song together with the actions.
6. After learning the actions for the song, all the pupils squat down.
7. Teacher plays the song again and points to the group. When a specific group is pointed, the members have to stand up and sing the song.
8. From the song, teacher asks pupils questions.

1. Teacher shows a kite (Appendix E) to the pupils.
2. Teacher explains the structure of the kite by telling the materials used for the kite.
3. Pupils name the parts of kites shown by the teacher.
4. Pupils name the parts of kites shown by the teacher.

1. Teacher demonstrates on how to do a kite by following the worksheet with instructions on how to make a kite.
2. Pupils are separated into pairs.
3. Pupils follow the instruction to complete the kites based on it.

You will need:
Square Paper 25cm bamboo skewers (4 per kite) Strings Coloured papers Scissor Manila card roll Wet glue Colour pens (optional)
Instructions:
1. Take a piece of paper and make sure it is square. It can be any colour you want. If you want to you can design one side of it!
2.
Find 2 bamboo skewers and use your normal glue or UHU glue to glue your paper
3.Find a manila card roll and some strings.
4.Attach the string to the manila card roll and roll the string onto it and
attach the other end of the string to the end of the stick.
5.Design your kite. Fly your kite! It is ready to go!

Stage 4 (10 minutes) (8.45 a.m. – 8.55 a.m.)
1. Pupils display their work in the Gallery Walk.
2. Every pair explains their designs of the kite.
3. Every pupil can stick constructive comments for their friend’s kite using the neutral thumb sticky note.
4. The highest voted kites will be awarded with a present.
