Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety - City & Guilds About the programme Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (3654-06) (Revised October 2016) About the Programme This qualification is for learners who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in managing health and safety for theworkplace. You will have an autonomous role in your organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice andyou will report direct to, or be part of the senior management team. You will recommend and implement changes relevant toyour role and you will be aware of cost implications and budgetary controls.   What does the qualification cover? The qualification allows you to develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression to thehealth and safety sector.   Who is it aimed at? This is a competence-based qualification and is ideal for Health and Safety Managers or people in equivalent roles whomanage health and safety at work. Entry requirements You will have a significant degree of authority, influence and autonomy and be in a position to influence policies andprocedures in your organisation as well as be able to implement changes relating to health and safety. If you do not havethe relevant background, you should have completed the NEBOSH National General Certificate, or an equivalentqualification. IOSH Graduate Membership* If you wish to apply for IOSH Graduate Membership you will have to complete the Elective Unit 611 – ProfessionalDevelopment and Ethics in Health and Safety Management. This will enable you to achieve IOSH Graduate membership.Once candidates have achieved Graduate Membership, they can gain Chartered Membership by taking an open-bookassessment and interview.   *Please note there is an additional cost for completing Unit 611 – please enquire for details.   Assessment Requirements You must achieve all units from the mandatory group.

Course Content You must achieve all units from the mandatory group: 402: Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information 510: Promote a positive health and safety culture. 511: Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters 512: Control health and safety risks 513: Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters 514: Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for health and safety procedures 515: Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures. 516: Develop and implement health and safety review systems 517: Develop and implement a health and safety audit. 518: Behavioural safety in the workplace 610: Develop and implement the health and safety policy   Elective Unit – You must complete this unit to achieve IOSH Graduate Membership. 611: Professional development and ethics in health and safety management.   Price – please enquire Who is it aimed at? Course content This programme recognises a person’s competence using on-the-job performance for assessment rather than relying onexaminations. Candidates are given guidance and help with the process of putting together their portfolios and are mentoredby a health and safety assessor throughout. There are ten mandatory units, including promoting a positive health and safetyculture, developing and implementing effective communication systems for health and safety information, and maintainingknowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice. Entry requirements Delegates will have a significant degree of authority, influence and autonomy and be in a position to influence policies andprocedures in their organisation and to implement changes relating to health and safety. Delegates must have completedthe NEBOSH National General Certificate.
