My main motivation to join the Human Action Control Summerschool is to find

better ways of understanding and studying how mothers select the parenting practices

they use. The main objective of my doctoral thesis is to investigate how culture

influences the parenting practice Romanian mothers of preschoolers use and the

activities they expose their children to. Attentind the summer school would aid me in

having a better understanding and, maybe, a better methodological approach to

understanding how culture influences the parenting practices mothers use, and why

mothers explicitly stated beliefs do not correspond to their selected course of action as

regarding their children.
