CHAPTER 3
METHODOLOGY
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter will discuss the method and alternatives that are will be used from the
beginning till the end of this project. Project flow and system overview will be discussed
briefly to give more understanding of the design and development concept of this
project, the project involves more software than hardware in overall. The methodology
must be organized to solve a problem, search of facts about the subject to ensure the
project is complete and working well. The methodology is important because it will
guide the researcher and make sure the system can be accomplished successfully
3.2 SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY
The selected methodology that used in develop of this game system is Addie Modell.
It will be the suitable guideline to help developing this mobile app games. There are
five phases involved in this model such as analysis, design, development,
implementation and evaluation as shown in the figure 3.1.
21
Figure 3. 1 ADDIE Model
3.2.1 Analysis Phase
Analysis phase is to analyze the existing mobile app games and all requirement
that are needed to design and development the new puzzle game. In this phase, the
information regarding puzzle game using smartphone application either journal, articles,
book or research paper are collected and gathered. Based on the collection of
information, method and technique that is suitable been decided. Adobe Flash are the
best methods that can be used to develop a puzzle game android application.
3.2.2 Design Phase
In This design phase, identify the design of the system and developed prototype
based on the functionalities that will be build. The data or requirement obtained during
planning and analysis phase transformed into design. A navigation map and a sketch of
storyboard are built to show the flow of the system allow user participant to evaluate
22
what and how the real prototype works. During this phase, the proposal of the project
created and presented to the panel.
In the sketch of storyboard, player will be providing three game and three stages
of level after choosing the puzzle game, player will give picture based on level stages.
The pictures will be about animals, plant, and transport, and other game is about quiz
and drag game. After that player can play and getting the score based on correct pieces
to completed the puzzle. This phase is shown in the chapter 3, design and navigation
map.
3.2.3 Development Phase
The third phase is the process of developing the entire design and is used as a
guide for the authoring process. The authoring process is a process where all the
elements to be used will be included in the puzzle mobile apps game a using Adobe
Flash. This software is selected because it is capable of producing android navigation
apps. In this stage of development also, development uses all agreed approaches or
designs in the stages.
3.2.4 Implementation Phase
The implementation phase is a testing phase. Completed applications will be
tested by the supervisor. Testing is done to find the weaknesses and to detect any
unnecessary errors during the authoring process. Supervisor free to comment and
criticism so that improvements can be made and any errors can be corrected. Through
this phase, the effectiveness and smoothness of the application can be ensured,
