Teacher Academy
Pathway To Success
Goal of CTETo get our students the education that they need to be employed in high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand
occupations that will enable them to be productive tax paying citizens
The projected number of elementary, secondary, and community college teachers that will be
needed in Mississippi significantly outweighs the number of students enrolled in teacher
preparation programs throughout the state. Thirty to fifty percent of all teachers will drop out of the teaching profession within the first
five years. The reason given was that they were not properly prepared for the teaching
profession.
Did you know?
For every 100 high school freshmen in Mississippi...
64 will earn a high school diploma
47 will enter college
12 will complete a 2 or 4 year degree
What can Teacher Academy do for our students?
Recruit/hook high-quality high school students for the teaching profession
Give qualified high school students an opportunity to begin successful career paths to teaching
Offer the opportunity to recruit and train high-quality students who may return to our District to teach-This is a
“grow your own” solution to the current and looming shortage in the teaching profession.
What can students of Teacher Academy Do for US?
Students are required over the course of two years to
document 100 hours of clinicial service.
This service would be in our local schools-working with students that need one-on-one tutorial assistance, assisting teachers in learning centers, developing educational games,
bulletin boards, or as the teacher needs.
THIS would be a means of bridging the gap of the loss of teacher assistants.
