Stewardship Spotlight

Dear Lord

I pray that You give me the wisdom to guide me on this faith journey of stewardship.

Help me to understand that

everything I have is a gift from You.

Open my heart and my mind so that I may use these Marvelous

gifts to give back to You here on Earth.

I pray Lord that You welcome me into Your kingdom at the end of my life

and that You are pleased with what I have done with all Your gifts.

Amen

“You yourselves, give them

something to eat.” All four Gospels record that thousands of men, not including women and chil-dren, were fed after Jesus took bread, broke it, and distributed it to the peo-ple. The blessing and breaking of bread will occur again at the Last Sup-per when Jesus institutes the Eucha-rist. Jesus is seeking to do more than

feed a large crowd for one afternoon. Pope Benedict XVI, in his Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis, describes it this way: “The Eucharistic mystery thus gives rise to a service of charity toward neighbor, which consist in the very fact that, in God and with God, I love even the person whom I do not like or even know. . . Keeping in mind the multiplication of the loaves and fish, we need to realize that Christ continues today to exhort his disciples to become personally engaged: ‘You yourselves, give them something to eat.’ Each of us is truly called, together with Jesus, to be bread broken for the life of the world.” As a Eucharistic people are we “personally en-gaged” with others?

Our Masses have resumed and we are so thankful to be able to gather and worship! There is no age restriction on attending Mass, only that you are in good health and not high risk. In keeping with the 6-foot social distancing guidelines, the maximum number of people allowed in the church is 125. For weekend Masses, we will offer 125 color coded tickets per Mass which will be available 8-6pm M-F from the ramp door entrance of church. If these pickup times do not work for you, call the Parish Office. Please pick up one ticket for each person in your household. You must have your ticket to be able to attend Mass.

We have combined the guidelines set by the State of Ken-tucky and our Diocese for those who choose to attend the Liturgy in person. It is the Church’s responsibility to protect every member as best we can and these guidelines are created out of love and re-spect for each of you. All attendees are required to wear masks with the exception

of children 3 years old and younger. If you are not comfortable, or children are not mature enough to wear a mask for the entire liturgy, you should continue to worship from home. We ask that you bring your own mask. If you do not have one, we will have one available for you outside of church.

Please use the side ramp door to enter the church and the front doors to exit.

Families are to be seated in the spaces marked throughout the sanctuary. Only every other pew will be utilized. The short pews on the sides will allow 2 people from the same household. Hos-pitality Ministers will help in guiding families to the appropriate seats which will be marked with a placard.

The cry room is not open for gathering. However, the restroom is available if needed. Only one person (unless family) is al-lowed in the cry room/restroom at a time. Others should wait outside the cry room door and maintain 6 feet between one another.

Because singing causes us to project our voices and therefore can propel the virus, the congregation is asked to refrain from singing. And to reduce risk, we will not use worship guides for the time being.

During the Our Father and Sign of Peace, please do not hold or shake hands with anyone outside of your family.

Offering baskets will be placed at the entrances to church. For the communion procession, a hospitality minister will dis-

miss one row at a time. Parishioners are asked to keep 6 feet between the person in front of you and keep your mask on until the person in front of you receives communion. At that time, the mask can be lowered and if the parishioner wishes, sanitize their hands before receiving the Eucharist. After consuming the Eucharist, we ask that you replace your mask over your face and you may sanitize your hands again before returning to your seat. Communion will be administered in the hands only.

For dismissal after church, hospitality ministers will dismiss each row beginning with the back of the church. Most everyone will be encouraged to exit through the front doors. However, those who need to use the side entrance will be able to use the ramp.

Are you interested in taking communion to those in your home who cannot attend Mass in person? Call the Parish Office at 270-683-5641 to sign up for training.

An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacra-ment. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramental-ly, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit

me to be separated from You. Amen.

God is the stronghold of your life.  It’s hard to recognize that God is always around because we can’t physically see Him, but trus ng that He is near is one of God’s greatest promises. Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salva on – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” Like many psalms, this was wri en from a season of trouble. Yet, it is a song of confidence and triumph because David was not in darkness or ul mate peril because the Lord was his light and salva on. God Himself brought light to David’s life. He did not despair in darkness and all that it represented. His life was filled with the Lord, and his life was filled with the light. The same can be applied to our lives. When you’re worried, re-member that the Lord is the stronghold of your life. Only when we you recognize this can you truly be filled with light.

God is with you wherever you go. God is always with us, even when we can’t see Him or hear His voice directly. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherev-er you go.” There are three  mes in Joshua 1 that God tells Joshua to be strong and to be courageous because he’ll need to be ready for what’s coming later. God also commands that he not be frightened or dismayed and for one reason only; “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” If you are going into a par cularly unse ling situa on, have comfort in the fact that God is with you wherever you go.

God is holding your hand every step of the way. Even when we don’t know it, God is carrying us in the palm of His hand. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Some mes, we can read certain verses from scripture a hundred  mes and fail to take them to heart the way the Lord wants us to. Other  mes, we can linger on a verse or two, and let them minister life, healing and comfort to us. Isaiah 41:10 is so rich with the promises of God that it warrants special a en on from us. Ul mately, the Lord wants to impart to us through this verse that we shouldn’t be afraid. “Fear not [there is nothing to fear].” One reason why God warns us against fear is that it can short-circuit the answered prayers and blessings that He has in store for us. When you are anx-ious, hold onto the promise that God is upholding you in His righteous hand.

God is our refuge and strength. While we know that we can turn to God, too o en we forget that God is always right there in our corner. Psalm 46:1 re-minds us that, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” By defini on, a refuge is a safe place. When the Bible describes God as our refuge, it is saying that God is our safe place when we need protec on from some-thing. Knowing God is our refuge enables us to trust Him more freely. We need not fear situa ons or people who threaten our well-being, whether in a physical or spiritual sense. There is no situa on we will ever face that is out of God’s control, so the best place to be is right with Him.

God’s peace passes all understanding. We know from scripture that the peace of God passes all understanding. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situa on, by prayer and pe on, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This is a wonderful prom-ise. The believer who places his or her full confidence in a loving God and is thankful in every circumstance will possess a supernatural peace. An inner calm will dominate the heart. The faithful believer will know peace – his heart and mind are guarded by it. No one, especially those outside of Christ, will be able to fathom that peace. The most, it will remain a mys-tery how someone can be so serene in the midst of turmoil. Hold onto the promise that God’s supernatural peace sur-passes all natural understanding.

God takes care of all things. God promises that He will take care of our lives. Luke 12:22-26 says, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very li le thing, why do you wor-ry about the rest?” What is so great about these verses is that it reminds us that we shouldn’t worry because God will take care of the big stuff and the li le stuff. Worrying doesn’t change things, big or small, except to make those problems ap-pear worse than they really are. Don’t get hung up on the big things. Cast your cares on God and then trust in His wisdom.
